Tindalos Interactive and Focus Home Interactive (very interactive names there) have announced that they'll be creating a real-time strategy video game based on the Battlefleet Gothic miniatures game from Games Workshop. You'll be able to create and customize your own ships and fleets of not just humans, but Chaos, Eldar, and Orcs, as you see fit.

WTF? GW lets BFG go out of print, hides all of the materials for it, and now a computer game is coming out? Could BFG actually come back into print? |

How many years late? GW seems to be going to town lately on video games. |

Another gawdawful RTS? *sigh* Why couldn't they make it turn-based, like it should be? |

I assume the "strategy" in RTS means the "resource collecting, tech trees and building units / structures" in real time, all the while a small-scale tactical engagement is going on. I really don't care for this type of gameplay. Sometimes, however they use the word "RTS" in ignorance or because they believe that's a buzzword the target audience wants to hear (RTT, real time tactics is less recognizable), when the game really isn't about strategy but rather operational skill or tactics, and there is no building going on. There are some really good RTT games out there (Close Combat, Sid Meier's and Ultimate General Gettysburg etc.) , and here's hoping this'll become another in the short line of them. |
