As already stated in the title. Does anyone have any experience with these rules in solo play? I am really interested in these rules and would like to hear how they play solo. |

Hi Monash, Sorry for the delay. The rules were not written with solo gaming in mind, but some of the core mechanics would certainly keep solo games entertaining. The command and control mechanism for example means that any companies outside of their lord's (general's) command range roll for impetuous actions and you'll find them recklessly charging forward, holding their position, or fleeing as the mood takes them. I hope that is of some help for you. |

I played the first edition solo and enjoyed it. 2nd edition looks like it should be fun too. Some of the element of strategy and bluffing with chance event cards will be lost, but that is often the price we pay for solo gaming. |

Monash, I've been learning the game as a solo player, playing with Sengoku era samurai. Because of a busy schedule, I've only been able to play two games, but I'm finding it works pretty well for solo play. I can give it an enthusiastic recommendation. |

Thanks all 😃. I am definitely going to give the rules a try…, I bought them yesterday. Still have to read them, but they really look like fun. Now I only have to find some suitable mini's for my Dutch army and well,… some other army as opponent as well….., and no I won't favor the Dutch army…eh really I won't 😁😇😜 |

Grumpy miniatures do an interesting range for East Indies gaming. Indonesian, eastern pirates etc. Their 'portuguese' make good Colonial Dutch. Eureka Miniatures in Australia, East Riding Miniatures in the UK. |

I already had been looking at Grumpys, but I will definately will order some mini's there now. Thanks Harry. Oh, and I will use the pictures on your blog as inspiration, hope you don't mind. I really like your Dutch army. 😃 |

I'm going to have a go at the Wars of the Roses with these. I'm going to use the Sengoko list with: Ashigaru shot -long bows Ashigaru bows -hand guns Yari Samurai -Men at arms Yari Ashigaru -retinue bill men Naginata troops -levy bill men Shinobi -light horse Warrior monks -Margaret of Anjou or similar(!!) -priest. I thought I'd base this on an established list -see how this goes and make up my own list later. |

Now that sounds like a fun idea! Let us know how it pans out. |

In my (limited) experience IW works fine solo. The dice roll for command really adds some pleasant uncertainty. Have only tried them a few times solitaire and still prefer them with an opponent. Nice set of rules! |

Hi Monash, Any moves towards playing a bit of IW? I've been contemplating rebasing my DBA-RRR VOC and Colonial Portuguese armies (both in Grumpy Miniatures) for IW (mostly for solo as well play as well). The focus will be on the East Indies for me – looking forward to seeing he campaign mechanics in the new edition (still have 1.0). Here are my Grumpy Portuguese in the DBA format: link |
