Shockingly (to me, anyway) and certainly sadly Jay Hadley passed away the other day, with little notice. I didn't even know he was sick. Jay could be a controversial figure, and a bit of a rascal, but he was a friend that worked tirelessly for the good of the shows and for the establishment of HMGS, doing what he did best: wheeling, dealing, and working with people. I'll miss him-- the world is a little less colorful without him.

I posted a largely inadequate tribute for him here link if there is any interest.

Thanks for your time,

Walt

Damn Walt,
This is becoming pretty sad. Jay Hadley and John Hill in the same week?

Yeah, I was shocked myself, that's a lot of loss to absorb, but what do you do, you can't just ignore it.. Walt.

Dear Walt

Yup! You and I knew Jay Well and all three of us caucused at several memorable points. His vices when compared to his virtues were trivial and he was a master politician and we needed that. He would have made an excellent Speaker of the House had he ever been elected.

For me, the thing that stands out are his accomplishments and his drive, and the positive things he did. If we are to believe the Carpenter from Nazareth, who said that "by their fruits ye shall know them, for a good tree produces good fruit and a bad tree produces bad fruit, Jay Hadley produced enormously good fruit and lots of it.

The sad thing that so much of what he did that helped the hobby is largely invisible to many. Trust me, all who hear, he was a great guy and a great gamer, and a great promoter and leader of the hobby.

I knew him well enough to be more than just saddened by his passing. I too did not know he was sick… he was always kind to me at least. I wish I knew him better.
