Hello everyone, I will soon be receiving reinforcemnts in the for of 12 battalions of Prussian Infantry (and 4 of Landwehr!) from Old Glory. I'm having some trouble matching up the regiments to their cuff/collar colors. Napoleonistyka has a good list for 32 regiments for later in the wars, however I'm looking for a source that has the cuff/collar colors for the regiments in the earliest days of the war. I suppose that would mean before and during Jena and Auerstadt. If anyone happens to know that they simply were the same throughout, that would settle this easily! Any help would be much appreciated! |

The Prussians for 1806 would mainly be in bicorne hats.
Later 1812-15 infantry wore the shako or caps.
Are they 15mm Old Glory ? Then they would be for the later period. |

Also Landwehr only made their appearance in 1813 and were part of the 1810 reforms. |

the so called New Prussian army (1808 and alter) is completly different to the Old Prussian army of before. For a complete list and illustrations go to napoleon-online.de and then go for the "Hild" illustrations and information about the 1806 campaign |

Thanks guys! Helps a lot! I know many Prussian units lost the flags during the earlier war disaster….Anyone have any idea as to what regiments retained the colors and continued their use in the later war? Thanks! |

Note that all regts were renamed after 1807. Some flags were retained in service, but the uniforms and names of the regts would be totally different and new. |

The Prussian Infantry Regiments prior to 1808 were named after their colonels-in-chief and were numbered 1-60. From 1808 onwards the army was reduced to 12 line regiments and they were given provincial names instead. IIRC there was also a new issue of colors to each regiment. |

Thanks huevans011! Any sources that could help me match units to the flag they used? I've found a lot from Napflags/Warflag, but there are only a few sets for later infantry regiments. Thanks! |

The reserve regiments were incorporated into the line in 1814 & were numbered 13-24. In 1815 line regiments 25-32 were added from the regions acquired in 1814. |

So I guess my lingering issue is finding something reliable that shows the later prussian regiments and their colors. |

Last thing then….info on regiments and their matching flags as well as cuffs and collar colors. Thanks! |

parksd70 For 1815 see the Mont Ste. Jean site. These are the later numbers for the Prussian Regts. as noted above. The Prussian Guard and Grenadiers are not shown as they were not involved during the 100 days. centjours.mont-saint-jean.com |

Also the Landwehr would use the provincial facing colors. |

An overview of the Prussian flags and standards pre and post 1806 can be found in Peter Hofschröer's Men-at-Arms "Prussian Staff & Specialist Troops 1791-1815", pp. 37-43. On p. 38, it also states which earlier coloures were worn by which infantry regiments after 1808. |

The 1806 uniforms are cool though and I much prefer to paint them, only downside being it has made me look at my French in shakos and want to replace with bicornes… |

I do enjoy a good Bicorne! A big reason I decided to add some Saxon infantry to my collection! |
