Okay, a bit of New Year fun. Started painting up these fabulous miniatures from Khurasan. Talk about bears with attitude! Despite the fact there are four, it struck me that a ‘mercenary/salvage team/squad' of these would benefit from a female leader. I couldn't decide which was best so painted three (four) options. What do you think? Here is the first, the rest on my blog. link All just for fun!

My preferences, in order: B D C A |
Grelber | 13 Jan 2015 6:21 a.m. PST |
I'd go with: D B From the look on her face and her posture, she is by far the best human figure, though she'd look better if armed, perhaps with a very large gun of some sort in a shotgun holster on her back A C I Googled Golden Bears, and it may actually be a color bears come in, if you wanted to repaint one bear, turning that one into an ursine Goldilocks. Looks like in option D, Goldilocks was 'just right'. |
Coelacanth | 13 Jan 2015 6:53 a.m. PST |
My preferences: B – I like her confident stance, despite the lack of obvious weapons. C – She has an outdoorsy, Lara Croft vibe. A – She'll catch her death, going out like that. D – I ranked it last, but it's still a valid option. Thanks! Ron |

C. I like the tricked out bears but call me a prude. She is the least sleazy. Grown up but still plays the traditional part well. |

B…with 3 Bears like that who needs guns… |

B all the way, looks more menacing as she isnt armed |
Fatman | 13 Jan 2015 11:14 a.m. PST |
My vote is for B, as is not armed. The idea of a small seemingly harmless/vulnerable child controlling these huge creatures. I always liked this type of idea for instance Charlotte in Blade the series and Archive/Ivy in the Dresden files books. Fatman |

I've got to vote for B as well. Think of her as the brains and the bears are the muscle. |
Parzival | 13 Jan 2015 1:26 p.m. PST |
B. Ditto sean68333 Second choice, A., because of the contrast with the story. |

First choice, Khurasans Lara Croft, then either C or A in that orde, cool idea and nice painting by the way. |

Hi War Monkey – C.)Got it. She's from Highlander Studios. link |

All your comments and recommendations have been great. But clearly my shortlist was too short for some! Here are a couple to fill in the requests (I realise that this will screw overall votes but so far B. is the main contender and I don't think these will clash with the reasoning for that choice.) BTW – please don't compare my paint jobs on the Tom Meier figures – Jennifer Haley's are absolutely amazing! Here is E. F. G. H. I. and J. on the blog. J's not serious at all by the way. link

The Scene have some nice females in their Zombie Hunter range, and a Dana Scully lookielikee, which might be interesting. However, I'd be tempted to go with one of the females in GZG's ravager packs: link Specifically, figure C in the top photo paints up nicely. And now, dammit, I'm tempted to pick up a pack or two of bears and nick your idea. :) |

Thanks, I have looked at his site all the time and just never notice. I'll have to get a set of those thanks again. |

Pinch away erraticassassin. That's why we share. Maybe I'm slow – When reading and watching the Golden Compass I never made the connection with the Goldilocks fable. Maybe this is an alternative treatment?

B – I like her confident stance, despite the lack of obvious weapons.C – She has an outdoorsy, Lara Croft vibe. A – She'll catch her death, going out like that. D – I ranked it last, but it's still a valid option. What he said, which has me in line with Sean. Lara is good, though I'd sugggest with a Goldilocks theme. And, yes, with those behind her, Miss Belacqua would get no crap from ME! Anybody have a Miho from Sin City? Doug |

Looks like all voting done. Great fun and great feedback so thanks for looking and playing. The clear winner with 59 points (B);
Second place, with 25 points (C);
And third place by only 4 points on 21 (D);
(A) First pic in this post was fourth on a very close 20 points. Late arrivals on the blog only got a couple of mentions as most people were done by then… Cheers all. warchest.co.uk |
