Hi,

Just put together a bunch of the Perry Miniatures Plastic and Metal mini's and examined them in a bit of detail as well as talked about what my plans are for these miniatures.

Please feel free to go my Shooting Leave Blog (Victorian Warfare) for more details:

Here's a little teasrer…..

Cheers,
Darrell.

IMHO the metals are far superior to the plastics which seem to have an oddly universal leaning forward pose. I've yet to see any assembled that have convincing arm/shoulder joints. Metal all the way for me – the detail is finer than on the plastics.

However, I do wish MP would get around to adding more packs to the late war Ansar range. We got two packs then he just stopped – the Beja have nine packs in total. The same is true of the Nile Arabs – just two packs.

I noticed that as well Tim. It's just a by product of having to design so many mini's that will fit together in realistic poses. I'm mixing the metals and plastics in the same units so there will be a large variation in pose as I've got 12 packs of metals to mix in and will add more as the army grows.

I agree about the detail too. Having just embarked on painting up the plastics it has become very noticeable. Still not to worry, I have the skill to paint in details.

I know what you mean but they're both prolific beyond belief (They do more work wise than just design miniatures too) and there are only so many miniatures that they can design at a given time period. I'm sure that we will see a return to the Mahdist forces in the Sudan sometime in the future. I'm hoping for Irish Galloglias and Kerns for their WoR/Cousins War range!

Cheers,
Darrell.
