Hi, all, I'm trying to kitbash a variant of the giant Land Dreadnought in All Quiet on the Martian Front, using a different base. Is there a source for generic tank turrets (with an old timey look) out there anywhere? I'm not sure if Alien Dungeon sells them or not, they haven't answered my inquiries.

Scale: 15mm
Era: Early 20th Century, WWI/VSF.. the visual I'm aiming at is to make it look like naval guns on a land vehicle, though in a smaller scale than on a ship.

The vehicle I'm converting has treads (phew) but I am at a loss for the turrets-- possibly the lids to some container might work.

Suggestions welcome

Check the "wooden shapes" aisle at a craft store (Michael's etc). They have lots of knobs and spool shapes that you might suit, just add the gun…

Try the plumbing section at local DIY store.

Peter Pig has 3 separate turrets for the FT-17. Kind of small, though.

Why not get a cheap plastic model of a cruiser or battleship?

I'm thinking of 1/35 tank turret, plating and riveting the heck out of it, myself. More so for 'nefs, though.

Zvezda's 1:100 T35 link comes with 5 turrets, of course … and is a bargain. If I was interested in this sort of thing I'd look at that kit as a prime source of parts …

Could I suggest naval turrets?

I'd tend to go for civil war or Pre-Dreadnaught style types.

Check with Gaming Models gamodls.com/. Craig's kits usually are priced at 5.00 each. He does have T-34s in various turret types and the Soviet BT-7A has an unusual turret as well.

A lot of the British turrets have large numbers of rivets and some interesting shapes. I like the Bishop turret for its large size and boxy look.

Some of the Italian turrets might work and the French Char 2C has a large turret which is unusually shapes and a smaller machine gun turret as well.

Gaming Models also has several Japanese naval guns for use on Tarawa, etc.

Darn how did I forget those! The coastal mounts are open to the rear but look smashing and would be ideal.

I was trying to find the Tarawa mounts on their website but no luck. Do you know where the listing is for that? It might be just the ticket.

Walt

PS Thanks for all the suggestions, quite helpful indeed.
