I made up my mind to keep all my WH40K figures. I looked through everything and wept. Here we go:

4000 points of Dark Angel Deathwing Terminators and Vehicles
6000 points worth of World Eater Chaos Space Marines, vehicles, and Khorne demons
750 points of Nurgal Chaos Marines and Cultists
3200 points worth of Blood Angel Assault Marines, dreadnoughts, and fliers

The plus side, everything is painted, except for a Baneblade that needs to be assemble, primed, and painted. All my Blood Angels are in Battlefoam.

The downside is I need to paint and assemble another Baneblade and get more foam to complete my armies.

At least, I won't be buying anymore GW stuff. I couldn't afford the loan for the downpayment on my unborn children if I actually consider buying GW product. I guess I've reached middle age with this crap. I'll just being playing 6th edition WH40K. The hell with GW the company. They're imploding everything.

I thought about selling my stuff off. Lots of other people are doing the same. There's glut of GW product on the market right now that isn't selling. I've been down this road before. I sold all my Eldar off in 1996. I kind of regretted it then. It was still expensive getting back into the hobby around 2006. Now, it's outrageous.

I have 4000 points in GW High Elves. I no longer use them to play WHFB. The rumor mills are rife with what's going to happen to Fantasy when 9th edition comes out. I don't play 8th edition WHFB anymore. I got sick of being stomped by winds of magic, etc…

Fortunately, I don't have anymore GW stuff. I know a couple guys to collect tons of this stuff. Locally, Hostile Contact, Combat Colours, Sapper Joe, and I playing 6th edition WH40K. I guess that qualifies as "Oldhammer." I've been playing since Rogue Trader. I don't have my old Rogue Trader book. 6th edition WH40K is fine.

I just need to figure out a way not to spend $800.00 USD on Battlefoam…

Though if you can find a gaming group who's willing to play an older version of WH40K, then go for it.

Regards,
Blake

You could magnetise them for cheaper than that surely?
Don't sell them, that's a mighty sunken cost in dollars and time, and it sounds like you are getting games with them.

Has the after market really collapsed? I've been kicking the can on picking the parts from bitz sellers to make up classic RT beakies from the recent releases…maybe time to look again. Or are we talking more dumping entire collections?

I'm taking about entire collections and painted armies being dumped on the market locally.

Also what I've noticed on TMP.com when I thought about selling WH40K stuff.

Lots of great games your GW stuff can serve in!

Is 6th edition really Oldhammer? We play 2nd edition 40k, beakies 'n' all.

Think of how much 15mm Sci Fi you could buy if you sold that! At least enough to buy 4-5 armies, a table full of terrain and enough left over to throw a game party with good Scotch and steaks on the grill!

I live by the adage of "never sell your minis." Every time I have done it, I've lived to regret it.

Damon.

Even though the current edition is 7th edition, I don't consider 6th edition "Oldhammer" since it was released only in 2012 and the differences between 6th and 7th editions are minimal.

On the plus side, you don't have to support the 'Evil Empire' by buying new stuff. You can always buy the aftermarket 40K minis people are dumping on the cheap either from consignment cases or Ebay. That is, if you need to add to your existing armies.

I've never understood why people dump their armies because of a rules set. Play an older edition of the rules or pick another set of rules. I know several people who will feast on the poor decisions of others to deep six their armies!

I have come to the same general decision, after about 15 years of trying to find the best and general purpose new sci-fi "oh-shiney" rules, and not playing much I have decided to do the following.

I love Rogue Trader and have the main books, but I don`t like multiple die types (I will make an exception for Pulp Alley!!!). So I have plumped for using 3rd edition 40k! (I dont like 2nd, or any edition from 4th onwards) This is because I know it off by heart and it has vehicle design rules and the creature/plant designer and the fact that I can play it as a much simpler and faster game of RT.

In a similar vein I have gone back to Mordheim for fantasy skirmish and necromunda for sci-fi skirmish, mix in a bit of 4th ed Warhammer and warhammer ancient battles and hopefully I will get more games in even if they are solo games :(.

And I can mix and match as I see fit.

So make a stand and do oldhammer in all forms, especially as GW seems intent on flushing itself away down the crapper!

I'm so glad I never got into the arms race that is GW gaming – I have Warhammer (3rd edition IIRC) and 40K – probably 4th edition. Played a few games here and there but never committed bigtime (part cheapskate, part not that into the fluff – although I quite liked Gorgamorkah).

It does seem to make a lot of people unhappy in the end. I think Hades Wolf has the right idea, if you can think that way.

If you don't want to spend a fortune on Battlefoam…

I've kept my armies (Blood Angel and Imperial Guard) also and now I use them with the Warpath 1.0 rules. Fast battles that feel like 40k with a fraction of the rules and alot less frustration.

Remember the oldest rule of WH40k-er's;
Once a 40k-er, always a 40k-er.
It's usually not an "if" of taking it back up,
But usually a "when"… :)
