Spent part of the weekend printing off ACOS/ACOP. Is there a "quick" way to build forces for the ACOS element without using the ACOP campaign for one off games. I can find how to convert hosts etc from the read through but want to get to grips with ACOS before using ACOP. Any recommendations on how to get up and running quickly? |

Not that I am aware of, but one quick way is to use the forces chits from ACOP and just randomly pull a certain number for each side, collect the units randomly assign leaders and throw them on the table. We have done that at least once and it seemed to work ok for us. You might also want to post this question on the Perfect Captain's Yahoo Group site. Someone might have a better solution. Also, I seem to recall that the 2nd Edition that the Captain is working on will have something dealing with pick-up games. |

The Yahoo group has some test ORBATs for Blore Heath Mortimners cross and 2nd St Albans. |

Both, thanks. Went down the route of picking out some counters at random along with some Nobles and MNs just to get a feel which was a bit odd so then followed the ACOP example of play on the website to plot the generation of reinforcements to the starting forces from the campaign battle they depicted and have that sorted out on paper(might get a battle in this week if I am lucky). My 15mm are on 1 1/2" square bases (30mm x 30mm)3 figs to a base and it has been really easy to generate the forces. I like the idea of the potential for additional captains in the companies which adds colour to the forces. Has made me consider specific York and Lancaster themes rather than generic forces which I started with. Talk about period flavour, definitely has my interest at the moment. |

CAG19, I've run several historical battles with ACoP. Is there a battle you are interested in doing? |

@Proniakin Tewkesbury has always been my favourite but only for the reason we went to the site and Abbey on a regular occasion while I was at school. I was up there the other day just looking around I have a plan in the summer to follow Edward's March from CIrencester up to the Battle as the Cotswold escarpment is a cracking walk. After reading through the examples again plus messing with the campaign system I have come up some simple forces to try out. Just need some time to game |

The post 1465 Noble cards have not been done yet. That said, the Perfect Captain crew did do a mockup of an official Tewkesbury scenario. Including cards for Noblemen (at Tewkesbury) too young to be in the 1455-1465 battles. Asking the Captain on their yahoogroup probably would be the way to get a copy. |

Please realise that many of us ( including myself) don't know what the acronyms ACOS/ACOP stand for. |

A Coat of Steel and A Crown of Paper. ACOP is the campaign system, ACOS are the miniatures rules for fighting out the battles |

Thanks, I think you meant that for WillieB Tried out 1455 "The Castle Inn" yesterday as it is the recommended starter. I was interested to note that no levy forces are engaged due to the "peaceful" posture of the country. Essentially the engagement will be fought between the Riding Retinues and any Well Wishers that can be recruited on route so it is quite small (starting forces of around 11 – 14 Contingents so about 33 – 50 bases of figures on table if no recruiting takes place) Sat looking at the board
I am a bit stuck (as I am playing this solo)on what to do for either party. The Lancastrians have to get to Leicester, from London, and the Yorkists stop them, coming from Sandal. I could march one host of the Yorkists down to Leicester on Turn 1 (as the Yorkists automatically win the first activation) or force march to Northampton and use the other host to recruit. Lancastrians can either reach Bedford or (if I have read the rules correctly make Northampton due to the good roads). That would allow the Lancastrians to start recruiting Well Wishers (assuming that York is in Leicester and Lancaster reached Northampton). Second turn could go badly if Lancaster wins the activation and attacks. If York have spent time recruiting then they need to consolidate back onto Leicester and have an almight bash on Turn 3. Anyone else played 1455 and thoughts to how this could go? |

Yeah we tried that campaign, it didn't go down well. the Lancastrian player didn't like the fact didn't get to raise any troops until the Yorkist force hit them. this was due to unable to raise WW until Yorkist next to royal procession, they moved too quick. Good campaign for learning campaign rules and small forces involved helps the Battles. Awaiting the updated rules especially the Cavalry. |

TURN 1 Warwick to Coventry/West Midlands hoping to pick up 4 WW next turn. York v Royal procession roll off – Somerset wins Royal Host to Northampton/East Midlands York to Leicester/East Midlands Yorkist in actives on 11+/9+ and if fail never turn up……no roll this turn TURN 2 Warwick v Royal procession roll off – Warwick Wins even though both sides on a 4. Warwick - Recruits - Leicester picking up York - Northampton attacks Royal party Seems simple enough. Will now move this to the table top. 14 MAA (all commanders) 35 retinue Archers 18 MAA (11 commanders) 2 Gonne 34 retinue Archers Reinforcement picks didn't go too well picking up three guns and a false friend… |
