although Age of Madness is near-post apocalypse setting game with free expansion Clear and Present Madness it is usefull for Modern gaming here is reviews it is worth checking out, it reminds me AK-47 in flexibility, each player is in control of small force consisting of infantry and vehicles

I have bought AoM and downloaded CAPD. Very impressed with the content of the rules which appear to be well written and looks a good game. Yet to play them but looking forward to it.

Thanks for the kind words all! We did in fact work very hard on word-smithing WAM. Writing rules is a lot like that old writing assignment in school, "Document How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich". It looks so much easier than it is!

"AK-47 Republic" certainly served as inspiration for army design flexibility. We added a little more detail so that one can more represent differences between broad classes/generations of main battle tanks and other AFVs and weapon systems such as ATGMs. But the game system is still far more on the fast-play end of the spectrum rather than a rivet-counter's game.

BTW…we will be running some demo games for our upcoming platoon-level sci-fi game at Siege of Augusta this weekend. The rules are specifically designed for use with both 15/20mm and 25/28mm figures and any basing system. Opposing sides field a reinforced platoon, each composed of roughly 12 teams (fireteams, MG teams, command team, sniper team, etc.).

With smaller figures 1 bound is 4"/10cm. With larger figures 1 bound is 6"/15cm. All measurements are given in bounds.

The basic maneuver/combat unit is the "team" of about 2-5 figures. As with WAM the number of figures in a unit and their basing don't matter. So you can use multi-figure bases and individually based figures clumped into teams and the number of figures on your bases doesn't matter.

Since we need to cover "low tech forces" the new game will cover modern troops up to grav tanks, power armor, plasma guns, shields, robots, and all of the other hard SF stuff we know and love. We expect release will be in Q1.
