Looking at a job there. Any clubs or gamers in the area? Hobby shops?

There are a few gaming clubs. There used to be The Crystal Keep in Kettering (a suburb) but I think it closed a while back.

There is an active HMGS chapter. There are two good cons nearby too – CincyCon in April in Cincinnati (about an hour away) and Advance the Colors in Springfield in the fall.

The Crystal Keep has been out of business for awhile.

There is a lot of gaming going on is peoples' houses.

There is a hobby shop (called The Hobby Shop) by the Dayton Mall. This has become the de facto meeting spot since the Keep closed. They have a number of small tables for gaming. The store carries FOW, Bolt Action, Wings of War, Sails of Glory, and various sci-fi and fantasy stuff, as well as models, RR things, slot cars, RC stuff, paints, etc.

We have two regional cons. We have a fairly large wargaming community in the area.

Dayton has the United States Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB, if you like military airplanes. A world-class collection of primo military airplanes. There's an annual WWI fly-in that's something to see. A local gamer has organized a couple of air wargaming mini-cons at Wright Pat, and this has potential to grow.

There's a lot of gaming in the Dayton area.

Also Toledo is not that far away and that place has a rich gaming scene.

Yep, throw in a couple of more cons right outside Toledo.

I run games at my home usually every other Saturday in Dayton. I usually have 5-8 players. The periods I do are 25mm ECW, 15mm Napoleonics, 25mm mountain men; 25mm ACW, 25mm Sioux Wars, 20mm WWII, 20mm Vietnam and Laos.

Here is a link to one of my Vietnam games.

SgtGuinness23 Jan 2015 6:07 a.m. PST

How about hobby shops in Columbus Ohio?
Cheers,
JB

Yes, I got the job and it only took 6 months before I could actually start. The bureaucracy never changes. But now to start seeking the scent of a game. I will email Outlander and hit the Hobby Shop tomorrow.

More in Dayton than Cincy, or used to be
