Hi guys and gals, So I bought BF's soviet winter artillery crew. These guys: link They're very nice, even if most of them are getting head-swaps (the early-war shlem was pretty much gone by 1941). A bit smaller than I'm used for from BF, but very paintable. But what is that one dude doing? Fourth from the left on the top row. Is he pulling an over-sized lanyard to fire the gun? Poking a fire? Something else? Strangely enough, he's the only one wearing the quilted jacket vs an overcoat, which is odd but not diagnostic. Anyone? |

Pulling the lanyard. If the horrible thickness bothers you, I suppose a human hair painted white would work, or a single strand of wire from speakerwire. |

Fuse wire would do the job or a light fishing line, but either way the lanyard appears the size of a piece of 4 by 2 so it would have to go. |

Thanks for confirming what I thought, gentlemen. I think I'm going to forgo using them, though. I don't feel like cutting out the stick and replacing it with wire (not today, anyway), and I can't for the life of me determine where the lanyard was on either the 76mm or 122mm (or even if there was one). If anyone knows I'd appreciate it, but I think it's easier to just not use them. A pity, since the carving on the quilted jacket is really quite good. |
