I'm actually looking at the download for HG Blitz and something just isn't making much sense… the following table is on page 13: Damage vs. Armor Effect Dam < Armor No effect Dam > or = Armor 1 boxes of damage Dam > or = 2x Armor 2 boxes of damage Dam > or = 3x Armor 3 boxes of damage Dam > or = 4x Armor 4 boxes of damage Exceeds Overkill Value Unit is destroyed Uhmm… okay. Isn't the Overkill Value of a Gear = 3x Base Armor? What's the deal with the "Dam > or = 4x Armor" listing or am I missing a something here? |

Unless there has been a rules update---each gear has an armor value and an overkill value---check a different mech and view that not all have an overkill value of x3 |

Right. Some models have 1 or 2 "sturdy" boxes – gears with field armor, tanks, etc. |

Random, Could you please point me to a gear that doesn't have an overkill value of x3? Let's work through this… A Hunter has armor 15 and Sturdy, Light, Heavy and Critical boxes. A hit of 24 damage is 2 damage boxes. A hit of 48 points would be Dam > or = 3x Armor and 3 boxes crossed off, BUT it is also greater than the overkill, and it is just destroyed. I can't seem to find on any of the stats in the Quickstart rules where it says that any gear or strider has an overkill rating that is > or = 3x its Armor |

Correction: A Gear or Strider's Overkill rating IS 3x it's armor. Irregardless of the armor number (15 for Hunter, 25 for Mammoth) every time you are going to have a damage score that is > 3x it's armor, whatever that armor rating is, it will be overkilled. |

Just so you know, these are the old rule. The new rules are up for free at Wargames Vault, and are much cleaner. |

The rules seem pretty clear to me. A sturdy box ignores the first damaging hit and the model suffers no penalties from a light, heavy or critical damage. But a 3x damage still kills the target. A sturdy box only saves from the damage penalties. |

Grumpy Monkey: Thank you. These rules are slightly different than the supposed current quickstart rules. The big difference occurs on page 18 of DP9-9997 Field Manual Revised: To recalculate the Overkill value when a Sturdy box of damage is added simply take the base armor value and multiply it by the total number of boxes of damage the model has. No model may ever have more than five damage boxes. This is the info that was not in the quickstart and was needed. |

Thank you everyone for helping. |
