Are the Zvezda figures hard plastic? Thanks.

The soldiers are semi-hard plastic, but not soft.
Their model vehicles (tanks, aircraft, etc.) are hard plastic.

You will still need to prime them with PVA or something to get paint to stick if that's your worry.

Acrylic works ok for me with an undercoat

The vehicles in 1/100 are in soft plastic though. I wash in hot soapy water, dry, and then use black gesso to prime. No problems with flaking. Gesso is hard and flexible.

The 100 years war figures seem to be hard plastic. The real test will be to see if the styrene plastic cement works on them. The figures are languishing with the rest of my unfinished projects. grin

The small sets are hard plastic, polystyrene, and the larger sets are a harder than usual polythene

That !

So for WWII you should be ok if you want hard plastic.
