I need one. Excellent find! Thanks for sharing. Like your repaint of the tires too. Can't figure out why they'd go with a color other than black. |

Mako11, Glad it helps. I did a search later for pics of the Hot Wheels rover and the repaints came up among the results. I'm gonna have to get one too, even if it's a little too big for my 15mm stuff. Dan |

First up is a real piece of space kit -- the Mars Curiosity Rover. This is a nicely detailed model – 55mm long and 32mm wide making it roughly 1:52 scale. It will, therefore, look pretty good with 25mm figures to represent itself or a similar probe device or some kind of fetch and carry robot. It could also be used with 15mm figures, or even 6mm figures, where it could easily represent an automated giant wheeled "tank" -- various probes just cry out to be designated as laser weapons and the rear of the rover has a sloped payload area which looks perfect for use as a missile launcher -- this is an item with some potential! I've been trying to find one recently in the local shops. Not found one. Maybe they have passed? Kick myself in the backside again, as I should have gotten one when I saw them by the half dozen. I'm happy to use one with my 15mm RAFM astronauts. |
