"Ironclads at war: the origin and development of the armored battleship"

Anyone have opinions on this one? The amazon reviews seem very divided.

Funny you should ask this. I was just looking at the reviews last night and am very much undecided if I should add it to my library.

Its been many years since I read it but my views on it were generally rather more positive than the Amazon US reviews (Amazon UK reviews are worth reading too). I thought it was a good general coverage of the subject that leads to kore detailed research.

Try borrowing from your local library before buying.

That is really good advice, especially for American libraries. Funding from county and city agencies often depend on demand, and the budgets increase when the number of active patrons increase. Borrow, and then buy if I want to read the book again or find quotes from it.
