I believe this was edited from the film "Alexander". The soundtrack it's set to is from Black Label Society's "Suicide Messiah". I post this because I thought that it was VERY well done, both in concept & execution, and that those here might find it as entertaining as I did. V/R YouTube link |

Nicely done. Very un-DBA like. Elephants, Pikes, Bows and Cavalry fighting in woods :) Was the Battle of Hydaspes fought in woods? Or did Oliver Stone just now want another open field battle in the movie. Time flies, I saw that movie 10 years ago. |

Nice Video, and a nice fight. I still much prefer Gaugamela from that movie, as it was both accurate and cool looking. It is nice to see Indians not just wearing white, and I would have liked to see the design team's work on Porus' chariots. |

I think it's straight from the movie, the director's cut. I know that he collapsed several battles into one, but Stone's treatment of this is really cool all the same. I especially like seeing Ptolemy fighting viciously in that scene and then looking over at Alexander speeding deeper into the battle and that look on Ptolemy's face like "I just can't keep up with this guy!" I think it symbolizes what he says at the beginning of the movie, "He was a god…, or as close to one as I've ever seen." [Not to deny Alexander's many faults] |
