I thought about dusting off my miniatures for this game. I painted up a bunch of stuff for it a long time ago and never got around to actually playing it . . . I have the Fellowship and Two Towers rulebooks. Was there ever a compilation of scenarios for the game? And is it worth getting the Return of the King book, or are the rules pretty much the same? |

There used to be a great website called The Last Alliance and they put fan made scenarios on there. Unfortunately it's now defunct. The Fall of Gondolin was pretty good: link |

Return of the king sums up most of the character stats. It is worth having. I just bought a used one on Amazon for $5 USD including shipping. Worth every penny. |

is it worth getting the Return of the King book, or are the rules pretty much the same? Just like the difference between FotR and TTT, there are some incremental changes to RotK rules. I only clearly remember a couple, which were minor. I *believe* RotK changed the Rout rules to say failure to keep your morale meant you're simply removed from the board instead of flipping a coin to see whether you retreated or moved under control. And I *believe* RotK started using Will points to modify morale rolls. All in all, I thought the final set of rules were the rulebook to rule 'em all -- until the Big Blue Book came out, of course. Still my preferred reference book … |

The Last Alliance website is not defunct: link The Last Alliance and The One Ring are the 2 main sites for LOTR SBG. Both sides have great info and there is much crossover between the 2. The One Ring: one-ring.co.uk/portal.php The most up to date version of the rules is The Hobbit:SBG. But the older versions work well too. I would at least get the RoTK version. Here's the Hobbit:SBG rules on ebay: auction Hope this helps, Xin |

ROTK is worth it for the additional stats and scenarios. As was said above, it's available for pennies used. As for scenarios, they were spread piecemeal through all the supplements and WD issues (wasn't there another mag also that had some?) that GW produced. There are however, 3 Best-Of-WD books. One for each of the three films. They've each got a good selection of scenarios as well as other material. Also, don't limit yourself to LoTR SBG stuff, the Warhammer Skirmish and Mordhiem Scenarios are great for any fantasy Skirmish game. Numerous scenarios for both are available online, though no longer directly from GW. |
