Hey all---I played a quick Battletech game today, my first in at least a decade. My uncle and I each took a lance of medium mechs and fought a general meeting engagement. I won narrowly--3 enemy mechs crippled or destroyed at the loss of 2 of my mechs. There was an abundance of critical hits, two decapitated mechs, and one mech with an ammo cook off from overheating. Some pics here---more pics and a more thorough AAR at my blog, link

Nice Mechs you have plenty of mechs in your collection for not playing in a decade. |

HA, ammo cook-offs, always a good time…you know, if it happens to the other guy. |

Ammo explosions is what machine guns were made for :-) |

Nicely done!! I recently started a Periphery campaign and suffered a slew of critical hits.Makes the players jump and shortens the game. Then my 80t Awesome got its 'head blown clean off'…. |

Good 'ol Battletech. Brings back a lot of great memories. Love seeing the old school stuff too! |

Thanks! The mechs are all from my uncle's collection. My first wargame, almost 20 years ago, was battletech. |

Lucky you! I wish I would have learned to play without hexes originally. I could make some cool stuff now! But I am very happy top play with GEOHEX stuff. Gonna get me some green later this year I suppose. Or perhaps just add to my desert with the mountain set. Really not sure which one. Still working on getting about 2-4 more steady players, then we can really do some fun stuff. I really love the terrain you used. Looks like you guys had a great battle! Thanks for sharing it. We never played with hexes. Just replace "hex" with inch and you're done. I love BT,I have no idea why people think it's so hard. What are you using the dice for? |

@DS6151: BattleTech is a great game. I wouldn't say it is hard, just detailed. In my experience, it doesn't play quick enough for larger engagements; at least not so you can finish them in an afternoon. I use dice to not movement modifiers. I use a green dice for walking, yellow for running, red for jumping, white for standing still and the number up showing the target modifier. @Grignotage: Nice pics and AAR. This makes me want to pull my models out and play a game. |

Just picked up the new 'introductory box set'… and am planning to try it out on my nephews… probably also without hexes. Rules still as clunky as I remember them, but not difficult. A fun game with 2-12 mechs total…. I hope! Thanks for sharing! |
