1) inexpensive (postage to the USA kills some sources sadly)

2) has a trench line (need it for scenarios over "friendly" and "enemy held" areas)

3) NLT 3'x 3' and NGT 4' x 5' (max table/reach factors)

Edit: Title should read "to do"

I am not sure about the postage costs, but the ones I use are based in the UK and are hand made, from Terrain Mat:

terrainmat.com

You can see it in use on my blog:

I took a HOTZ mat, with 2.5 hexes on one side, turned it over(so any green mat will do), took pieces of paper laid em on the table to make "fields" lightly sprinkled several different colors of fine flocking, picked up the said paper and moved em around, did it again until I had enough fields, took pipe cleaners painted em them flocked em for hedges. Finally I used small pieces of "clump foliage" for trees. I also added a bridge, railroad tracks & towns to complete it. My wife went insane the other week & wrecked it so I can't show ya the final result. No, I haven't left her yet.

PS-Trenches & NML can be added very easily with fine brown flock

My plan is to download some fan-made files and go to a print shop for vinyl banners: link

Link works for me. Hmmm.
Go to wingsofwar.org and search in their forums for the thread "Custom Wings of War Terrain – free files!" for the link to the actual files.
(As the ! appears in the forum url link, I suspect your browser is balking at it)

Here's one of the images being offered:

I can find the thread, just links like link are "Not Found" so it may be my dying laptop. Might try family desktop.

This is not my day wingsofwar.org/keegan gets a 404.

Moving on regretfully.

Battle Masters is available on eBay.
It's vinyl mat has large hexes good for 1:72 aeroplanes.
You can call the roads a trench system.
