I've recently given my hobby and painting room a makeover. Here are a few pics to show how it's laid out. Post pics of your hobby space here as well.

I want it! Very nice.

Where did the desk come from? Great size.

Vilmonn04 Jan 2015 12:41 p.m. PST

Skipper,
It's a dining table from Ikea. I have one leaf in.

I'm sorry that's far too tidy. Go mess it up a bit. ;)

Nice room!

There is more paint there than at any model store I have ever seen. Great room. I wish I could keep mine so tidy :)

Timmo uk04 Jan 2015 2:00 p.m. PST

There's enough stuff there to start a shop. : )

Very nice and very tidy. I no longer feel bad about how many paints I have. A great space to work well done.

Vilmonn04 Jan 2015 4:14 p.m. PST

Thanks for the comments, guys. The paints are from many different lines. Those that didn't come in dropper bottles were transferred into them (Reaper brand bottles).

This was intent when I put my room together. My room is an absolute wreck. Nice job.

galvinm04 Jan 2015 8:57 p.m. PST

Way too organized for me.
Looks like you can actually find stuff.
What is your excuse for buying more, if you know you already have it?

Very nice!

You know you are doing well and have a great set up when my wife is impressed at the set up!!! Now to get you to come to the Land Down Under to conduct seminars on set ups :)

Looks great!

You can triple your shelf space if you just use your arm to sweep all those carefully organized paints into a plastic bucket. :) Works for me!

Very nice indeed. I have never seen so many bottles of paint together before.

Holy hell… No one can possibly need that much paint.

Do you have a wargames table too?

Great looking space, very organized!

Vilmonn05 Jan 2015 10:29 a.m. PST

Lord Ashram,

Well, I do get around to using almost everything. ;^)

Here's a shot of my Wargames table. It's a custom 4'x8' built to bar table height (I get a sore back bending over a standard height table for any length of time).

That is really amazing, Kevin. I am building this year, and my thought had been to use container store Elfa shelving along the walls rather than built-ins and free standing shelving. Your pictures make me second-guess that. What was your thought process on the game nook and the magazine racks?

Lord Ashram05 Jan 2015 12:30 p.m. PST

Beautiful! LOVE the wings of war planes there! Very nice man:)

Lord Ashram05 Jan 2015 12:34 p.m. PST

Holy crap, and the magazine corner is amaAzing!

Vilmonn05 Jan 2015 12:51 p.m. PST

Rwphillipssti,
Well, the basement had a natural nook in it, as it's the foundational extension of the kitchen dining area on the floor above. It just seemed like a good place to put in the custom shelves. My general contractor is a carpenter so I just asked for them and he built them (he built my game tables as well). For sizing, I just took a sample of a very large book I had and told him the shelves needed to accommodate things that tall.
The magazine racks are not built in…my dad had them made many years ago by another carpenter to hold is Playboy collection (of all things). Anway, that collection is long gone, and I inherited the racks. Glad I kept them.
