Supposedly it is important in the overall metaplot linking the various Marvel movies together. I read an article that argued Agent Carter is important for setting up certain aspects of Antman (late this summer). |

Agent Carter is the only TV Marvel/DC inspired production that I *won't* skip. It's pulp era and Hayley Atwell looks terrific! |

Don't forget it premieres at 8PM, not its usual 9PM time slot! |

<< It's pulp era and Hayley Atwell looks terrific!>> Oh Yeah! She hits all my buttons. On a completely different line of reasoning, my daughter's love superhero's and the marvel line of movies, and I'm jazzed about a smart tough female lead who knows how to dress properly. |

ABC's new 8-part miniseries ‘Agent Carter' is simply a joy to watch, transporting us back to the world of ‘Captain America: The First Avenger' with the continuing adventures of Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell), the woman who first trained Captain America and captured Steve Rogers's heart. At a time (1946) when a woman working in any official capacity is called a "secretary," Agent Carter shows that she can kick ass and take names as well as (and in some cases even better than) any man, without compromising her Jessica Rabbit sultriness and feminine vulnerability. The first two episodes which aired last night witness our femme fatale enlisted to aid Howard Stark in the investigation and possible recovery of stolen secret weapons that ended up on the black market, after Stark was subjected to the following inquiry by a congressional committee: "Did you knowingly sell WMD's on the black market?" – Committee"No I did not." – Stark "Did you unknowingly sell WMD's on the black market?" – Committee "The very nature of that question would preclude me from answering it." – Stark, after a pause Then there's the ‘Captain America Adventure Hour,' a hilarious send-up of the ‘Adventures of Superman' radio shows in which the always imperiled damsel-in-distress Betty Carver (no kidding) would exclaim things like: "Oh, no! Nazis! I wish Captain America would be here to save me!!!" Pulpy, noirish and fun, ‘Agent Carter' is not to be missed. Va va va voom! What a dame! Even the 'Dick Tracy' poster looks cool

I dunno. The show entertained me, and Hayley Atwell is sure nice to look at, but the script had no depth at all. In fact, the show looked like a moving comic book. I don't know what I expected, but I guess I was hoping for more originality. I liked the sets and costumes, and I was glad that WWII vets are part of the cast of characters, but the emphasis on Carter being perceived as a helpless woman by the other agents is a "one trick pony" that's gonna get old pretty fast. I'll give it another look, but if all i'm gonna get is Atwell eye candy i'll skip the show and get my pulp fix from original films and pulp magazines of the era. After all, Lauren Bacall, Veronica Lake, Ida Lupino and many other women of the 30's and 40's looked pretty good too. |

I thought the first episode was pretty bad. I get that women were treated poorly then (and now), it just feels like they went out of their way to make every male character a walking stereotype. And not one of the amusing stereotypes. It's just bad. No one in my family wanted, even a little bit, to watch any more. |
