(I think I may be having a reaction to my medications …) "Leda then produced an egg, from which Helen emerged." link
Similar to procreation among inhabitants on Barsoom:
erbzine.com/mag17/1786.html Which begs the questions … how about gaming an invasion attempt of Earth by Barsoom then? Barsoom vs Mycenae, anyone? Maybe Easter egg hunts are really the reenactment of hunting down Barsoomians in ancient times? link Dan PS. So, was she the face that launched a thousand airships then? |

No, I think he has something there-Barsoomian airships, radium rifles and Thark cavalry versus Movie Troy Greeks and '300' type Spartans and Persians….this could work. Give the Greeks their mythological creatures, Odysseus and the boys you can kill Therns, take ground, "Go tell the Atlanteans, we stopped THEM here, to save your ass!" Send in Warlords of Aegyptus and the Eight Flags Army-"Everybody into the pool!!!!" |

Skippy, Lol. Some of the best dinners I remember from my youth were the mystery ones, made from mixing 2 or more leftover meals. Dan |

Skippy: "Give the Greeks their mythological creatures …" Pegasus vs airships?!?!? Dan PS. Yes, I listened to Leland's advise. :) |

Since Helen could've been the daughter of Nemesis, and the egg simply dropped into Leda's lap, Dan could indeed be on to something. Especially since Nemesis (divine retribution) is supposedly the daughter of Nyx (night) and Oceanus (the primeval ocean which encircles our world). Could be a memory of the Divine Retribution From the Ocean of Night. Anyway, that's how the Professor character should explain it to the Handsome Young Explorer and the Beautiful Archaeologist just before they enter the portal which will transport them back to Troy VII in the Ray Harryhausen movie already taking form in my mind. (Helen of Helium! In Dynamation!) Finally, a sequel to John Carter to be excited about. |

What ? They don't have clothing on Mars ?!?!? Or ancient Greece for that matter ?!?!? Yup, that pic is fairly accurate as far as ERB described them, its just that pulp magazine and comic book artists had to censor things a bit later. |

Hey Cacique, I like it take more meds, its bringing out the creativity :+) Big fan of the two 'periods' and doing a 'mismatched time machine' thing for a little pulp escapade sounds cool Cheers |

I knew Zeus 'attacked' Leda disguised as a swan, but didn't hear Helen came out of an egg! Anyway, unless you specifically mention characters of John Carter's era, no need even for time machines. Barsoom as was is already old when John arrived, right? Moves out of VSF, but there's no Ancients SF… ;->= Helen of Helium… I REALLY like the sound of that. Doug |

I'm already thinking about the TV show: Jason and the Aeronauts! In Supermarionation! And you're right, Barsoom was around for a very long time. There was even a website that tried to produce a working geography for ERB/OAK-era Mars and Moorcock/Brackett "Old Mars", if I can still find it. Would make a great Imagi-Nations/VSF/Ancients campaign. So Dan, did the meds wear off? Have you started sourcing figures? What rules? Mighty Armies? |

I think there was a recent sale that included three Greek/Roman galleys, always something I'd consider, though these were closer to 15-18mm. A friend made one for me that we used in a couple of G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. games, but really should drag it out again. I'm the one with the head in the clouds (vacchead in Spaceship Gaming). link Doug |

Bill (Commander Carnage) really did me up a treat; I'm ashamed it's not seen as much gaming as it should, but I can talk a lot while monitoring here at work. Time for playing has been lacking. Most of the rest of the 'stuff' was put together by my best bro' Randy. That's his basement in the piccies. Doug |
