Would it be out of order to put a full sized flag instead of a cornet(?) on the army command stand on a mounted figure?
OR is this simply so out of historical accuracy that it would offend and vex the viewers eyes?

I use over-sized flags for the commanders to give them that "bigger than life" appearance.

It's your army so go with what you think looks good. Here is what I did for my 2 Army command stands:

Charles I has the Royal Banner. I am not sure of the real dimensions but I thought it made him stand out.

The Earl of Essex just gets a wagon wheel! Not sure what he used for his banner but I thought it looked good.
