Mindflayer at midnight or how I spent my New Years

I wanted to be productive, so I emptied my work table of minis to be painted. Then I set down some green stuff, some dental tools, a paper clip and an empty paint container. Here is my half finished 10mm Mindflayer, all ready to cast some petrify spells at ya, then suck your brains out with his tentacled maw.
Which makes me think, what else can I sculpt for 10mm. Just go through the Dungeons and Dragons monster manuals and pick some at random I suppose. I want to do phanatons next… and not just because of the Rocket Raccoon movie.

I think I want to add a lantern hanging from his staff somehow, I think the Dark Souls mindflayers had those? If not, yes, I am cool…

He still needs feet and a cape billowing behind him. Plus I want to add definition to the arms and legs, might have to cut away some bulk from him. Also add a pouch where he might keep some tasty treats or magical spell components.

Tony58,

Thanks, I hope to work on him again later today even though I have other things to do. I think he is mentally coercing me to finish him, sly little squid-head that he is…

I think Im finished sculpting my little mindflayer!
Now what to do? Find someone that can mold and cast a few? If so, I should probably sculpt a few more figures to fill a mold. I think Quaggoth bears were enslaved by Illithids, those could be fun to sculpt. Maybe some pointy-eared enslaved Githyanki warriors. After all, my little mindflayer could use some underlings to order about.

Or I can just make him unique and paint him, which Im leaning towards just because I want to see him painted already. I wasnt thinking about sculpting minis, but now im kinda hooked. What have I gotten myself into…
