I completed work on a little vignette of a Panzer IVg that a friend gave me for Christmas. The results of two days work are on the blog: link Thanks for looking!

Thanks Leon, yep, that crap has got to come in use somewhere… |

Nicely done. Takes me back to the days when I was gaming with Airfix tanks and troops. Mine didn't look nearly as nifty as yours. But it does remind me of back then… |

Thanks Rrobby, or should I say; Tanks? I started out gaming with Airfix figures as well, after progressing from Napoleonics. I don't think mine looked anything like this one back then either… |

That was two days well spent, it looks spot on and the chewed up tank tracks in the grass really set it off a treat |

Thanks B man, I wasn't sure how to do the track ruts, but I think they look ok. I'm glad you like them! |

Ha ha, thanks Tango 2 3 Ditto, I'm not playing with it cos it's 1/72nd scale and I use 15mm! It would be a giant amongst my other tanks! Ha ha! I think the difference in colour is due to the natural sunlight light, the pre-weathered picture was taken early in the day in direct mid-winter sunlight, the later picture was taken later in the afternoon in darker natural light. That may explain the difference, because all I did to weather it was add some mud pigments to the tracks and underside, so the overall paint job hasn't changed on the whole. For the wash, I used Army Painter Dark Shade overall to pick out the details, with a dry brush of a lighter shade of the base colour (Vallejo Middlestone) with Middlestone mixed with Dark Sand to pick out the edges and make it look as though the green and brown camo paint had rubbed off the sharp edges somewhat. This is what is represented in the first set of pictures. as for filters, I am aware that they exist, but have no idea how they work or how to even attempt them. I do love modelling and would love to learn these techniques so I can improve any future kits. So I am sorry, I really can't tell you anything! |
