"Hello and welcome to If Instead, the podcast that asks, what if instead the past had panned out a little differently, how would the world look today. I'm your host Henry Hunt, and in this podcast we'll be looking at the events of 1815, principally Napoleon Bonaparte's movements following his comprehensive defeat at Waterloo. With the new year of 2015 being ushered in, marking the bicentenary of the momentous battle and end of the Napoleonic era in Europe, it seems a pertinent time to consider what if instead of being captured by the British in Rochefort, the Great Emperor succeeded in fleeing to United States of America and gained asylum." Doesn't mean he couldn't attempt to carve out an Empire for himself in the America's, in Louisiana for example. |

By 1815 Napoleon was a two time loser, I don't see him carving anything out of Louisiana. Besides imagine how embarrassed he would be to have his @ss kicked by Andy Jackson. |
