I've attempted to put together a unit of French Heavy Cavalry in 15/18mm for the Battle of Marengo. I've used Warmodelling's Spanish cavalry but a combination of my eyesight getting worse, my arthritis spreading into my hands, and the fact the figures aren't meant to be French Heavies means I'm not 100% sure these are working. Here's what I aimed for…
Here's what I achieved…
All comments and feedback are welcome. More pics on my blog here link Thanks for looking again, Colin |

Looks good to me although not keen on the pistol carrying gents. |

Neither am I. The next regiment has three figure with pistols. I'll probably replace these at some point. |

The overall impression is great, excellent work – yes a good French line cavalry in 18 mm is overdue. |

Look like just the sort that should trample Austrians under foot. |

Can anyone supply specific flag information for the 2nd, 20th and 21st Heavy Cavalry regiments? |

good question, is there any RIGO plate about a post 1794 cavalry standard model? In case yes, then there should be good guidance – otherwise there are almost no illustrations of those carried later than 1794, each squadron had a different standard colour as well |

Old Glory 15s carry French heavy cavalry in their French Revolutionary War range |

Yes, I've seen those were available, but they are battle honours, so smaller figures (and I'd want my heavies to be heavy), possibly all the same pose, and I've heard the casting quality isn't what it used to be. Plus BA aren't available in the UK right now. I think I may have found reference for the flags I need. I'll post tomorrow or when I get a chance. |

Must be me, but I love the effort that went into producing something different, cavalrymen holding pistols….OK, they were only used to dispatch dying horses I know….. but… |

Colin, Great looking unit and grseat way to do them!! Too bad you're overseas. other wise I'd send you some plumes to use with them. The officer with the pistol is incase there are any Royalist in the group that refuse to charge home!! John |

I may add plumes myself. I only didn't out of laziness. |

@Camcleod You beat me to the punch! That's the site I just found. I think I'll print these and use them as they are and try and do proper artwork for these when I've finished the Line Infantry flags. The other flags on that site are very interesting as well. There's a few demi-brigade flags I hadn't seen before. Colin |

If you haven't poked about on that site before, have a look for the proposed 1806 multi-coloured French Flags ;-) |

I've added plumes. I think they look good, though the red paint I used looks terrible. What do you think?

very good effort – the standart – looks quite ok, a little faded, still atractive – very impressive |
