It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Not sure if anyone has seen these yet – to be honest I didn't even realise they were out but I have a set in my hot sticky fingers…
You get 6 figures in 4 poses mostly in 3 or 4 pieces.
They are very nicely sculpted.
However I can't really see the point of them. They are pretty pricey £3.99 GBP for 6. They are made of brittle hard plastic, you have to stick them together, you only get 6. They are on individual bases rather than the normal game base and you have to stick them on. They are a smaller and slimmer than Zvezda's other figures and to be honest if you want musketeers you are probably better just clipping the plumes off the Grenadier figures. That said- I do hope they do the cavalry – particularly Russian Dragoons as promised…

I really love Zvezda figures, but I really hate the direction the company has taken. They make some lovely stuff, and their artillery is without a doubt the best in the world of plastics, but concentrating on their wargame products seems such a waste of talent.

Obviously, Zvezda thinks this direction will be more profitable, but it is a pity for those of us who donīt fit their business plan.

the direction they are taking is a big disapointment to me. They seem to be doing this now for every new release, which is a shame as their figures are way ahead of all other manufacturers.

Really? That's over a buck each if my math is correct. Maybe they are for collectors…..

It seems odd that Zvezda released these figures before the Art of Tactic Napoleonic base game but it must mean that the boxed game is coming very soon. I thought the figures would be all on one base like the Art of Tactic WWII and the Samurai Battles games, so the Napoleonic game must have some different mechanics than the previous releases. Interesting…just have to wait and see how this develops.

There is no multiple base in the box so I assume they are not to be used in a game. Like I say I can't really see the point of them, not sure who they are aimed at.

Well, the OP bought them, so maybe that is how they make money grin

But seriously, as everyone interested in 1/72 plastics has lamented for some time now, this is a tragedy in our little plastic world. They did market leading products, but turned their back on what we hoped would be a complete range.

The French command set hinted at a comparable Russian set, but sadly faded dreams and missed opportunities.

But I assume their financial projections work better using this new business model, rather than the old. I imagine it is a hard market to make money in – Esci stopped, Italeri shrank, Revell stopped, Airfix has given up, HaT have slowed. I guess us middle aged men did not buy enough toys to make it profitable.

Sad.
