Monty Python's Flying Circus… changed my life. The first season was in 1969 but we didn't see it in Canada until 1970.

All good ones, as were Rat Patrol, I Dream of Jeannie, UFO, Combat!, The Man from Uncle, Sea Hunt, etc.

Not 100% sure all of those were, but suspect that many at least started off in that decade.

Those are my favorites and I have several of them on DVD. I am actually watching one episode of VTTBOTS with MRS Bunkermeister every day. We started about two weeks ago.

'The Army Game'. Was more 50s but stretched into the 60s so I'd include it as amongst the best of the 69s tv.

Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed those shows when they were first on, most of them do not stand the "test of time".

"Dragnet" is interesting to watch, especially the drug related shows, as it highlights the utter futility of the "Drug War".

Tarleton30 Dec 2014 8:15 a.m. PST

Batman, Man From UNCLE, Thunderbirds, Dads Army, Never Mind The Quality Feel The Width, Callan, The Saint.

Mostly watched at me mates or me grans as we didn't have a gogglebox!

Old Slow Trot30 Dec 2014 8:20 a.m. PST

Not to mention the satires of quite a number of the aforemntioned TV shows in Mad Magazine. "12 O'Crocked High","Voyage To See What's On The Bottom","The 'Phew'-gitive","The Man From AUNTIE","Loused Up In Space","Route 67",and many more.

Does anyone remember "The Americans" 1961 TV Civil War drama about two brothers, Ben & Jeff Canfield? Ben fought for the North, Jeff for the South. The show featured many guest actors who went on to become big name stars.
This show was the event that first captured my fascination with ACW.

You can google it (not to be confused the recent "The Americans" with Keri Russell as russian spy)

Good Old Wee Willie… "I gotta Pee"

As for a vote, Star Trek gets the nod from me. Lots of other honorable mention up there though.

MHoxie30 Dec 2014 3:01 p.m. PST

Actual dialog:
"All right, son, the party's over. Let's have that grenade."

Rod I Robertson31 Dec 2014 5:54 a.m. PST

There were so many good shows. The twilight Zone, Dr. Who, Combat! and Star Trek would be my choices. If I had to choose I'd go with Combat!
Cheers
