Does anyone know when the Vietnamese Peoples Air Force started using the MiG-21 gunpacks for the PF and PFM MiGs? I can't find the dates of use or deployment.

I can't answer your question and I don't know how to send a PM here, so I apologize for hijacking this thread….

Quick question on your flight stands you make for your 1/600 jets….what kind of ball bearings do you use? size? and what kind of glue are you using for your magnets/bearings?

Thanks, and again….sorry for the hijacking

Acctingman The balls are 3/16" diameter steel balls the magnet rings are 1/8" x1/16" x1/16" from K & J Magnetics I found Slow Zap CA as the best glue, it doesn't snap off on shock of attaching.

According to Y. Gordon's tome on the MiG-21, the GP-9 gunpod arrived in 1968 with the MiG-21PFM. It appears that the PFL did not support the gunpod. But the Vietnamese churned through Fishbeds at a scandalous pace. The original MiG-21F-13 (delivered in late 1965) was out of service in 1968, as the PFM came online. So it is entirely possible that there is confusion about what version carried what and which variant went up on a specific mission.
