Greetings all, I'm looking for suitable Scottish spearmen (12' spears) for the Wars of the Roses period. The closest thing I can find are the Perry pike men but the pike is too long to depict Scotsmen. Any other suggestions? |

Why not just cut the pikes down or get new smaller ones, if the figures are good enough I would use them. |

Ebobs figures are great but the armor is all wrong for Wotr Cyrus. Weasel, I thought of that and that will be my last resort choice. Cheers. |

The first Perry WotR infantry set comes with a spear on every sprue. Also the upcoming Perry plastic light cavalry set will come with spears / light lances that might be maybe useable with infantry models. |

And then Perrys also make these metal footsoldiers with separate bills that could be easily substituted with spears or pikes (code WR38).
Also the codes EA2-EA5 from the European armies range could work with a change of armaments (which are separate). |

Thank you Grief. I didn't know they made metal figs with open hands. Problem solved. |

For other figures with open hands also check pack WR22 (liveried billmen marching) and WR37 (standard bearers). There are also two packs of open-handed spearmen in the Agincourt to Orleans range (AO26 and AO27) though those would look a bit old-fashioned in the later part of the century. |

Use bog standard wotr billmen and give them spears. If you want them to look a bit more Scottish paint ginger hair. |

Doesn't Old Glory make 30 fig packs of WOTR Scots Pike (and Welsh spearmen and Northmen)? |

Front Rank have some very nice figures, check out the open-handed pikemen WR92-100. link |

The Old Glory WOTR Scots is pretty good and you could mix in some Claymore figures and some of the Old Glory 100 years war figures with them for variety. Some of the armor is still appropriate in my opinion. Allen |

Agree with rampantlion. I mixed Old Glory WOTR Scots and Claymore figs in my Scots army. On the whole nice figs and you get a good mix of some various armor styles. |

Mix and match is certainly the answer, but your Scots should not look any different to your English troops other than the long spear, so it's worth wondering what makes a specific figure or pack 'Scottish' other than for marketing purposes. The Perrys' figures with spears rather than bills are just fine, likewise Claymore. The Old Glory pack with chaps with hoods and axes may have some use for something, but I really don't know what. Most of the Ebob 'rebellion' range really is n't suitable for anything apart from playing a game of Braveheart, but why not if that's what you fancy? Lots of us have played 'Lord of the Rings' |
