If you're a Supporting or Sponsoring Member, you shouldn't be seeing any of the new banner ads – the ones at the leftside or bottom of your webpage. However, if you do see these banners on a page, please let me know which page so I can fix the problem. Thanks! |

Is it just me? or are the banner ads a little off topic? I don't mind the ads at the top they relate to our hobby (mostly supplier ads)but the banners at the left side and the bottom…… Pop cherry dresses for $29.99 USD etc.. really? is this really needed? its bad enough being bombarded with ads while I watch TV / Cable and even when I surf the net and now I have to tolerate them in my hobby forum?? FFS give me a break – Not Happy. |

Do we really have to have dating ads? Seriously? |

Most of the 'advertising services' do have an option to tailor the ads for the site's intended audience – I now see an ad for various drones rather than dodgy get rich quick schemes. Its theoretically a plus for them as there is more chance someone will 'click-thru' one of their adds (not this little black duck). |

Patriot Mini Drones! 99 bucks, guys you may want to see theses ads. |

Can mini drones or online MMORPGs be used on a table? |

…or are the banner ads a little off topic? There's a learning curve here, both for TMP and for the Adsense system, apparently. I said earlier that we can block ads by category (to a certain degree), and we can block ads for specific websites. I'm also learning now about the third option – which is that once an ad has been shown on TMP, it goes into a queue where it can be approved or blocked. Can mini drones or online MMORPGs be used on a table? No, but the ads can make a significant addition to the revenue stream… which makes more things possible here. Another issue is that some ads are in the wrong categories. I just saw one for doll houses under "Sexual Health," and one for plastic fabrication under "Dating"! Do we really have to have dating ads? Seriously? I'm declining about 90% of the dating ads right now, but the "credible" ones I'm letting through (mostly for Canadians). |

So you're selling out [TMP] for a quick buck? At least merchandizing [TMP] on gaming accessories and [TMP]-themed clothing would be a better fit for a hobby website. |

I imagine survivalist rations would sell well to some of the audience here :) |

So you're selling out [TMP] for a quick buck? I wouldn't call it selling out TMP. I think Bill's trying to increase revenue so other things can happen…. 1) Hire more editors. The more people you have doing the grunt work, the more of the planning and experimenting you can do yourself 2) Improve TMP – with the increased revenue, you can purchase more hardware, bandwidth and better software. This makes for a better experience for the end user. 3) Buy a new Cadillac CTS-V. What self respecting editor wouldn't want one? All the cool kids have one! (OK – I'm kidding – but I couldn't resist it). Seriously, I applaud the effort that Bill is putting forth to improve TMP. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. However, I think Google ads could wind up hurting TMP in the long run. I know that I'm using an ad blocking program with Firefox and I don't see the ads at all. I hope there is some middle ground that will allow us to see ads directly related to war gaming without having to see the other ads. |

A little experience in the field would be helpful with some of the articles, and subject matter of the site…. |

Buy a new Cadillac CTS-V. What self respecting editor wouldn't want one? All the cool kids have one! (OK – I'm kidding – but I couldn't resist it). My 2000 Mitsubishi is near death, so a "newish" car is in my immediate future. I do hope that if he hires more editors, that he hires some with at least an idea of what "miniature wargaming actually is before they sign on. A little experience in the field would be helpful with some of the articles, and subject matter of the site…. If you know of any candidates who can work on what I can afford to pay, let me know… |

Hell, I'm going to start an unpaid internship for the next five months so if you need an amateur editor with a bit of wargaming experience and military history understanding, I can work on the evenings and weekends for a little bit of grocery money. |

Depends on how mini. I have used R/C vehicles and other stuff on the table. Got another one on the workbench right now… Can mini drones or online MMORPGs be used on a table?
Never done it with the online sort, but I have used RPG milieu and events to drive tabletop scenarios. Sometimes one way, sometimes back and forth. Also, MMORPGs are a gaming related experience that hones some of the same skills as tabletop gaming. I think that falls in the same category as "Can you use military history books on the table?". |

"I'm declining about 90% of the dating ads right now, but the "credible" ones I'm letting through (mostly for Canadians)." I hadn't realized our Canadian members had such a hard time finding dates. |
