I thought "Oh No…not those French veterans in pantomime versions of what they wore decades before." (Valuable nonetheless in showing survivors of Waterloo in photography) Luckily I went on. The later pictures are brilliant and I have never seen them before. The French ones I have seen ad nauseam. Thanks very much indeed! Great post9ing Happy Christmas to you, not holidays (too PC for me). It's about the guy who was born in a manger and said we should all be nice to each other and turn the other cheek. |

Marco It occurs to me that He was laid in a manger…not born in it. He was born in a stable……. These guys did see action in the wars of their era…or so we are assured. The provenance seems reasonable. But that was then. It was different. I do not care about whether Christian (so many subgroups spent many centuries killing each other), Muslims (still do…..I am sure there is a huge difference between Sunnis and Shiites but…it escapes me….and…is it worth it?), ……..modern war. My thoughts tonight are with the Jordanian pilot……….but I fear Black Hawk Down again…… What is wrong with us all? Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All etc……whatever your parents told you to believe. Or theirs'…….. |

Deadhead I think it is the instinct of man to take us to war. Even my thoughts go to all the prisoners in the Middle East |
