Any one out there know if any company makes minis of the ships from the old "Space Angel" cartoon? As a kid I watched these on "Garfield Goose" and loved the Starduster, Evening Star Space Station and a course the Space Force ships. Did not really care for the, I forget what the Roman like enemy was called, ships though. |

I used to love that cartoon too. Corny still characters with real moving lips super-imposed over their faces. I was about 5 years old back then. YouTube link Thanks for the memories. 8) |

Starduster looks rather like a Von Braun or George Pal (Destination Moon) design. I think Ravenstar studios may have something similar. Any images of the Station handy? My Google-fu failed. I missed out on Space Angel til I was TOO old to stand watching those mouths; my kiddie memories are of Jet Jackson, Sky King, and Buster Crabbe serial TV broadcasts. Thanks for the YouTube link; I may have grown old enough to give it the slack it needs. ;->= Doug |

Even as a kid, I noticed that most secondary characters either had their backs to the screen when they spoke, or had their mouths hidden behind their hands, or mics, or other equipment, or they were "filmed" from a distance so it wasn't obvious that their lips weren't moving. I still watched every chance I got. |

That show would be so easy to do as a Flash(tm) animation It reminded me of Clutch Cargo! YouTube link |

Same company did Clutch Cargo and Space Angel. |

Ripcord Right time, but don't recall. Highway Patrol Oh. Dear. Gawd. No. I recall a quote, Firesign Theatre(?), 'endless scenes down Mulholland Drive…' At least, Sea Hunt was endless scenes in shallow sea water. Rocky Jones, Space Ranger REALLY hated Winky, and not because I wanted to take his place. Sorry, all, haven't waxed nostalgic on these for a long time. I guess I started it. @jpattern2 I, too, remember mics and other bits of scenery popping up in the way. Almost made it worse. @RC: Wikipedia: It used the same Synchro-Vox lip technique as Clutch Cargo @Papasync I was in adolescence then; sucked up everything space I could find, going back to Von Braun on Disney (wish somebody had explained the war criminal thing back then) to Victor Lundigin. Wow. Totally forgot most of the details of Space Angel. The rotating seats when landing. The wild white hair of the Chief. The Scottish engineer. My childhood is rushing back at me :) |

The main artist, Alex Toth, was one of the best sequential artists of the day. His iconic version of Wonder Woman for the "Superfriends" episodes continues to affect her interpreters today. I admire his work a great deal. |

Alex Toth was a genius in both animation and comics. I loved his work in Eerie and Creepy, but he really shone on Space Ghost, Herculoids, Birdman, Dino Boy, and others. |
