"* Squadron diverted from Afghanistan mission in a bid to target Isis leaders
* Executioner Jihadi John believed to be a primary target for 60-strong team
* Troopers will also pinpoint targets within Iraq to assist with air strikes
* Comes amid reports Isis fanatics executed 100 of its own foreign fighters
* Militants recruited from abroad killed for trying to flee from Isis stronghold

Up to 60 SAS fighters are heading to Iraq to hunt down Islamic State leaders after militants started learning how to avoid airstrikes, it has been reported.

The full squadron of troopers had initially been dispatched to Afghanistan for a separate operation, but have been diverted to battle Isis fanatics…"

That is interesting.

Thanks for sharing.

I would make another statement, but apparently that is verboten.

That is so nice to warn them. Now lets see the ROE…

I thought the SAS was just 8 blokes who are the hardest soldiers on the planet (old joke reference).

60 SAS troops on the ground hunting them, ISIS now have a reason to be scared. Hope they get them and then the decapitated body dies off.

When you read this, you have to wonder who's side the Daily Mail is on. Wouldn't it be better to say nothing until afterwards.

Yes again, and other media OPSEC violation, if true … By the time Daish knows the SAS are there … it should be a second or two before SAS troopers are double tapping Daish skulls …

skippy000122 Dec 2014 8:41 a.m. PST

If they release the fact that 60 SAS are going in…obviously the area has turned into a Special Forces "Everybody into the Pool!".

Think of the support assets alone that will be buzzing about AND successes justify and increase budgets/funding.

Obvious Target Rich Environment-you can't help but get SOME bad guys.

Not too mention destroying communication, transport, ammo, food, arms, records et cetera. They're not just going to get one guy.

Woohoo! Maybe I can get a Daesh skin coat for Xmas!

BattlerBritain22 Dec 2014 9:08 a.m. PST

I did think that if ISIS have executed 100 of their own already aren't they doing the SAS out of a job?

Can't rely on anybody these days…

Oh ! That's something I'd watch !! evil grin

Royston Papworth22 Dec 2014 9:29 a.m. PST

perhaps they want IS to know they are coming, for the fear factor…

Maybe they just want ISIS to tweet where the party's at in case they un-friend the SAS on Facebook?

Mako1122 Dec 2014 10:55 a.m. PST

Yep, get those jihadis looking for the SAS behind every sand hill and dung heap, no doubt.

Then, they won't see the A-10s and Predator drones sneaking up on them from overhead.

Lion in the Stars22 Dec 2014 1:04 p.m. PST

Uh-oh. Sounds like someone actually acted on an earlier suggestion of mine.

It involved telling all the Special Ops forces that their beer and barbecues had been canceled until the heads of DAESH were mounted on pikes.

And then mostly standing out of the mad scramble for transport to the area, coupled with finding enough funding to feed and water all the SpecOps types after they're done. That is going to be one obscenely expensive party.

Either way, the area is turning into a Empty Shellcasing Hazard Zone.

Mere executions of the higher-ups is insufficient; hi-resolution/high-definition video footage of their "leaders" whinging, and begging for their lives would be needed prior to sending them into the Great Beyond for tea with Shaitan.

Good and Good Hunting.

mandt223 Dec 2014 9:56 p.m. PST

I don't think this is breaking news. I'll bet there are dozens of hit-teams, SAS, SEALS, French, Saudi, Kurd, Turkish, German, Australian, Israeli, Eastern Europeans, Iranians, and more operating against ISIS right now.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP24 Dec 2014 8:58 a.m. PST

We can only hope. Plus add US Delta/SF to that list. Not so sure about the Saudis or Turks though …

Lion in the Stars24 Dec 2014 12:18 p.m. PST

I doubt there are any Saudi teams fighting DAESH. Fighting *for* DAESH, yes, but not against.

Turks? Tough call. I would have expected the Turks to have ordered a massive deployment into Syria, but apparently they're stopped about 10m short of the border.

But Skippy wins the thread!

I do know for a fact UK spec ops have been there a while, now some are there officially. grin

Good Riddance of the Scourge of these Jihadist numbskulls!

These guys said it best:

"Muslims are the first victims of Islam . . . To liberate the Muslim from his religion is the best service that one can render him." – Ernest Renan

Regarding Islam: "No stronger retrograde force exists in the world."
– Winston Churchill

well that comment is certainly a contender for the bad taste awards – lets demonstrate our dislike of a group of bloodthirsty fanatics by descending to their level (along with 'hi-resolution/high-definition video footage of their "leaders" whinging, and begging for their lives' and putting peoples heads on spikes – too much watching of Col Kurtz in Apocalypse Now).

Sorry to offend your delicate sensibilities. I recommend you man up or move along while you wait for your nails to dry.

Yes – well Heinrich Himmler said that the Germans needed to be man enough to be cruel for the good of the nation in the long term – actually all brutality breeds is more brutality. The nail varnish thing is unnecessary. I'm a left wing Christian and liberal who's worked for 30 year in law enforcement (maybe not common in the US, more common here), your political views and life history having been in the military are different to mine and clearly we have different views.

Lol,actually, probably not as much as you would think, I was just having a bad day when I responded/snapped at you. I'll buy the next round : )
