After reading "The Road To Guilford Courthouse" I am thinking of assembling and painting my boxes of Wargames Factory and Perry plastic British AWI infantry as British Legion. I found this thread on TMP TMP link and wanted to know if anybody had any other ideas or advice. I am thinking of using light infantry caps and green jackets but any thoughts on this are appreciated. |

Welcome to a can of worms. If you go with LI caps an green jackets IMHO you will be close but no doubt there will be a whole bunch of folk who disagree (IMHO they are wring) but at the end of the day your figures, your choice! |

My generic Loyalist LI are the Perry LI from Paoli, with slouch hats and green coats. I have used them as British Legion, Ferguson's Experimental Rifle Corps, Moe Green's Boys, etc. Perry make a metal set of Lee's Legion on foot. What they are is basically LI in Tarleton helmets. They are as likely, or unlikely to be British Legion as Lee's Legion. I have them too, but in the Troiani inspired pink leisure suits. |

If you want more conventional/formal light infantry uniforms, use the Perry dismounted 16th Light Dragoons in Tarletons and paint their coats and waistcoats green (this is how re-enactor and historian Antony Scotti – author of "Brutal Virtue" which is a history of the British Legion – appears in the photos in his book). But all-in-all, I would be tempted to go with TM's suggestion as an inventory of kit waiting to be shipped out to the BL in 1781 lists helmets AND caps, which suggests the cavalry and infantry wore different headgear. |

I used Perry British infantry in roundabouts.I'm not at all impressed with Wargames Factory stuff myself. Bob C. |

Mine are old Minifigs conversions, and I gave them Tarleton helmets, Light Infantry coatees, and white small cothes. They've seemed happy with them for twenty odd years now. |

Why not use the Continetal box from WF, they come with helmets to make Life Guard (which just look like Tarleton Helmets to me) and cut down coats? If you prefer the jockey caps, there's plenty of those too. |
