This topic has probably come up lots of times but it seems a difficult one to pin down. Is there a definitive source of the uniform details of the 28th Orange-Nassau Regiment. They seem to definitely have been in blue but the details seem to vary. They were a unit in the Army of the United Netherlands so the overall prevalence of British supplied equipment seems appropriate. However I can accept that as the second battalion had French muskets they may have had French ammunition pouches etc (after all, muskets were usually issued as part of a 'stand' which included the appropriate pouches, bayonet etc. So the main questions: were white (French) trousers worn? What were the flanquer distinctions other than the shoulder rolls? (I have seen green tipped plumes for both companies and also red plumes and cords from a contemporary source for the 'grenadiers'.) Any ideas? Or should I just 'mix it up a bit' to reflect the confusion of the formation of a new army? |

link On the top left of the page, you can choose to see the uniform of the centre companies or flank companies. Best source I'm aware of. But there is a lot of confusion about this regiment. |

I agree with waaslandwarrior, and thought about that link as well. |
