I have Harpoon (GDW Edition) but would like something a little more "streamlined" (Not having a Naval Commission). OR some guidelines to convert to Harpoon Captain's edition (also GDW). Something like General Quarters with missiles |

In the past Shipwreck seems to have come up quite frequently. I too have wanted to do modern naval but Harpoon was too much for me. |

Shipwreck seems to have some good ideas, though I'm not sure I agree that individual ship/class speed can be totally disregarded (in the rules, ALL ships have pretty much the same speed, and all subs have the same speed, IIRC). Also be prepared – the rules come with no ship data. You have to download the ship data from a separate website. I understand the designers concern over upgrades, but that seems a little extreme – at least give the major classes, then offer the website for more ships/details. |

NWS has rules,part boardgame but that can be used with minis. Quite good. |

Surface Battlegroup is very good, I have switched from the nearly unplayable Harpoon to SBG. It has modules handling all the current hot spots in the world. They are available as .pdf's at Wargame Vault. |

In fact, I am getting all the Falklands ships together to replay the campaign. The SBG modules cover all the world's hotspots with SDS's all ready to go, along with scenarios. |
