Been playing Saga for a year now. I love the game and have painted 4 different armies for it. The current one is an Arab faction and I've done the bases in a desert theme.

I bought a desert mat. BUT I have nothing to go on it. Who makes the stuff and does it well? I'm buying!

Well it is Desert. A few bits of lichen and maybe a well and a couple of trees. Some gravel/boulders and a dry river bed.

How about an oasis with a bunch of palm trees and a building and some tents around it? Maybe a little stone wall enclosure for livestock?

Renedra manufactures a generic Middle Eastern mud brick house in plastic (plus a separate accessory sprue for it):

They also make a variety of tents, though I am not sure if those would look appropriate in a Middle Eastern setting.

How about some of these:

They are already painted and avilable from us as Tablescape – tablescape.co.uk

"desert" in the middle east, especially where most people actually lived, did not mean nothing but dirt. Whole areas were irrigated with fruit trees, grape vines, olive trees, and other forms of agriculture. Not to mention in higher elevations there would be scrub trees. People couldn't live in areas without water and agriculture. And they didn't fight over dirt.

But large battles would not have been fought there. Why risk the delicate ecosystem? How would that benefit the winner?

olicana, is that the same demo game that was at Fiasco in Leeds a few years ago?

It looked beautiful! Who made the figures?
