Hey guys, I'm about to start painting both fallschirmjager and italian airborne in 28mm scale and I'm wondering if anyone's got any tips on painting the pants. From looking at the Ospreys they seem to be fairly similar in colour. I usually aim for the old 3 step method and I've got the vallejo luftwaffe uniform ww2 colour. Anyone know of anything that goes well as either a shade or a highlight to that? I like the flat greyish blue of the paint so something similar would be great. Thanks in advance! |

bc1745 a million thanks for the link. Incredible work from that guy. I took a look at his table lamp, that too is quite a find. |

Thanks for that, I found that one late last night too. Could spend hours going through that blog. Ive ended up going with black undercoat, luftwaffe ww2 uniform base, black wash, lufftwaffe uniform again and then a highlight with 70% luftwaffe uniform and 30% vallejo grey blue. Comes up nice and flat |

I hate to be pedantic, but Fallschirmjagers generally didn't have blue trousers. Their trousers – "springhosen" – had a few Fellschirmjager-specific modifications, like a pocket for the "gravity knife" and places for the knee-pads they'd wear when they jumped. But they were feldgrau green-gray wool, not Luftwaffe blue. A number of older painting guides showed them with blue trousers, but this is an error. Some might have received blue trousers late in the war as their logistics broke down and supplies ran out, but this was an exception, not common practice. |
