Did this unit carry colours of any kind? What did the drummer's uniform look like? Any images or info gratefully received. Thanks in advance. |

The light blue uniform is striking. I'm sure it had the same red, green, and white flag as the other Kingdom of Italy regiments, but with the name of the battalion in the center, in Italian of course. They are mentioned at Histofig, but no details. napitalia.org.uk/eng/milgd.shtml |

Only info I can find on drummers is Rawlins, who says scarlet epaulettes, otherwise as the line companies. |

Extrapolating from the Napoleonic Association booklet by James Currie & Geoff Gibbs "The Kingdom of Italy Infantry 1805-14" as this is a general comment about drummers. The suggestion is drummers wore ordinary uniform as prescribed for their companies with the addition of lace piping at collar & cuffs. The lacing would have been interlocked triangles of red & white. Drums of brass with white fittings; rims decorated with diagonal stripes of red/white/green/white. Drum carriage white leather as was the apron worn over the left knee & upper leg. Drumsticks black. |
