I'm particularly trying to find out if anyone has taken over producing the old DeeZee miniatures 28mm 'scale' Woolly Mammoths, which, here in England, used to be available from Trent Miniatures (via North Star). But if anyone knows of *any* 28mm Mammoths still in production – even if I've got to order from the States, Canada, or Australia (!!!) please let me know here, or email me at captain_squib@yahoo.co.uk. Cheers, fellow wargamers! My Cave Men need meat! |

Steve Barber makes some, though they might be a little on the small side. Have you checked North Star? Those were nice models--hope someone is making them. |

You can still get 28mm Mammoths from Acheson Creations in the USA, from the Primaeval Designs range: link . Magister Militum used to be their importer in the UK, but I think they may have stopped doing this now. Hugh |

You can not only support endangered tapirs, but purchase plastic Pleistocene megafuana here: link The Acheson sculpts are gorgeous, BTW -- highly recommended. This TMP link old thread indicates that the DeeZee mammoths you are after and the Acheson ones may be one and the same. |

Another vote for the Acheson sculpts. Just awesome. I used them in my Game of Thrones wall scenario. Mike |

This TMP link old thread indicates that the DeeZee mammoths you are after and the Acheson ones may be one and the same. No, they're not the same models. They may or may not have been sculpted by the same person (I don't know the right or wrong of this), but the Acheson ones are different from the DeeZee animals. You can see my mammoths, of both types, here: link Hugh |

If you want a war mammoth, West Wind makes one for their Dwarf Wars lines. For those on the left side of the pond, Old glory makes it. |

Another vote for Acheson. I've got a couple of their mastodons and a mammoth and they are absolutely gorgeous. |

I bought safari land toy mammoth they are really large but I still think they fit well enough plus they are like $12 USD and AC MOORE has the 50% coupons so you can get one for $6 USD |

Thanks to all of you that have responded; especially Richard Brooks, who has (probably – need to check 'em first)found the ones I need and in England! To all of you in the USA who helped on this query, thanks so much, but the cost of postage and customs duty makes it impossibly expensive to order anything directly from the States! We Brits just have to hope someone retails such over here! Squibzy. |

I was in a hurry to reply to everyone last night, and thank you all for your efforts on my behalf. Now I've got a bit of time to express some other thoughts. Thanks to colgar6 for the link to your prehistoric megafauna blog page! Lovely comparison photo of DeeZee and Acheson Mammoths (and other animals too!) The Acheson Mammoths are certainly beauts. and have a baby Mammoth, too – very useful for games where the predators aren't human! Steve Barber is a sculptor I've known for 20 odd years, but his Woolly Mammoth has more of a Mastodon look than a Mammoth (shame, because the other prehistoric animals he makes are excellent!) I've emailed Arcane Scenery and Models, awaiting reply if they still stock the DeeZee model. I'll come back to you all when I get a reply. Cheers! Squibzy |
