Hello all. Okay heres the deal and its a two parter. First does anyone know what the easiest way is to post some pics, I can't figure it out or would be willing to post some for me if I emailed them.
My second question and it is related to the first is I have finished my "Alpha" version of a Avalon Hill, SPI style 1980's board game that covers the ACW on the strategic level. It is a labor of love more than anything else.
It covers the whole war, turns are for three months, movement is done at the corps level. Leaders all have there own stats and some have special abilities. Mechanics are included to show how the overall quality of the two sides armies changed as the war went on. A battle even the size o Gettysburg can be resolved in 10 min to help keep things rolling. Unpredictable turn lengths, just enough attention to the blockade war and other mechanics give the game a fresh look, I think.
The idea was to create the game to have just enough micro management to allow for all kinds of "what ifs" including production strategy but not so much that the game didn't keep moving at a good pace. Yes it is the kind of game you set up and either play until your tired or leave it and come back and finish it in another secession:) It has been play tested a few times and the players have liked what they have seen.
If anyone would be interested in helping me with play testing I would be able to send them the map, charts, counter sheets and rules by email. Yes you would have to do a little work making counters and may have to go to Kinko's or the like to get the map printed out, but hey think of it as a free game:)
So there ya go. Anyone interested?

1 You would better go to boargamegeek , webgrognard and comsimworld.
all if not mostly hardcore boardgamers, and many geeks too will be happy to help.

2 your easiest way to test would be to do a cyberboard box and find some testers (same list) it would cost no one anything and mods would be easy enough.

Here there are only so many "multi purpose" gamers as me and are first and foremost into miniatures.

BTw if you'd think of a way to prep some system to use your game for campaigns, say coupled with F&F or other systems then maybe…

Gamer1,

I am interested in playtesting your ACW boardgame.

I read what was posted under the images link and was still confused. The easiest method I found was to start a Photobucket account. Once you figure photobucket out there is an easy "img" link on the side of each picture. Copy and paste the link to your post. I resize my pics to 600 before posting or they take up the whole page. Also as a word of warning, only put pics on photobucket that you wouldn't mind other people seeing. It is a photo sharing site.

Good luck with your game design.

Thanks for the input guys. I never thought about the other gaming forums, I just assumed all gamers where like me and enjoyed board and miniature gaming, but I can perfectly understand why there would be a difference.
To Jcfrog my game would probably lend itself very well to generating multiple corps on multiple corps battles if you wanted that. I say that because I have done enough homework that I list how many troops each land factor represents be it, inf, cav or art. I even have a system that would allows for three different levels of inf, green, reg or vet. So you could transfer that information to a fairly detailed troop list for a mini battle if you wanted to do one that large. Plus depending on how the board game went you could end up with several "what if" battles. What if Stonewall had been at Gettysburg? What if Grant had started his career in the east, etc, etc.
To gregoryK, thanks for your interest. I want to try and get a few map pics up first to make sure it looks like something you are interested in:) So give me a little time. I am also getting together a simple NDA for any players since I don't know if I want to try and go commercial with it or just leave it as a labor of love:) Once again guys thanks for the help.

The first one didn't work for two reasons:
1. The "html" on the end of the URL
2. TMP doesn't work with "png" images
The second one didin't work for the same reason as ( 1 ) above – the "html" on the URL.
The last 3 characters of the URL must be "jpg" to be displayed as an image in TMP.

Okay, but I am seeing the pics here on the forums are you guys not seeing them on this post, above?
