First Command Wargames, publisher of 'For Queen and Planet – The Imperial Wars of Earth and Mars – 1845 – 1930', releases its first supplement for the rule set. The Martian Punitive Expedition – 1901 is a pure Victorian Science Fiction supplement for the Core Rules. Set in 1901 on Barsoomian Mars, this supplement presents eight scenarios to allow you to play the initial encounters between Terrans and Martians through to the final destruction of the Expedition. Battle with and against fierce Green Barbarians, Black Martian Pirates and Red Imperials wielding forerunner weaponry! You can purchase this supplement and the required core rules on Wargames Vault at: link or check out our Facebook page: link or the First Command Wargames website: firstcommandwargames.com |

How many total figures or elements (ballpark) would you need to play scenarios 1 and/or 2? I'm trying to get an idea of what the average size of a game is. |

Hi Lucius, Typically there are three – five units per command and one to three commands on each side. I went into the rules and counted the total figures for scenario 1 (which can be played as a single command per side). The British would have a four stand line infantry unit, totaling just 8 figures (Line infantry is 2/stand). They also have a four stand Cavalry regiment, totaling 12 figures (Line cavalry is 3 figs/stand). They have a final unit, which is a scout flyer. This is a vehicle. The Red Martians have a rifle unit (8 figs), a Warband unit (25 figs), warbands are five figures/stand, and an artillery unit (1 gun and 2 crew). So total figures British: 8 line infantry 12 line cavalry 1 vehicle Red Martians 8 line infantry 25 warband infantry 1 artillery piece and 2 crew Hope that helps! |
