Camels, big beards and lots of colorful formations. Please have a look at Westfalia's first Kickstarter campaign. It's a unique chance to safe some money compared to the prices once we have them in our shop later on. link Thanks for looking, Kawe |

Kawe, Not my cup of tea, but I do wish you the best of luck for this. Now if we can only talk you into doing some 18mm items? John |
KaweWeissiZadeh | 17 Dec 2014 8:05 a.m. PST |
Thank you John, I am seriously thinking about it, but I'd need a much better overview over what's in demand etc. It's the work of a lifetime really. Kawe |

A well presented and organized Kickstarter. Good luck. |

Whatever it might be, it aint Napoleonic! |

Thanks IronDuke. Wyeyeman – eh? |

I honestly…seriously…thought this was a prank for Christmas. I really did laugh when I first saw the camel. He could not survive. Like John McEnroe, I still ask "You can not be serious". If a Geordie cannot understand it……Wyeayeman……it must be odd. You would have to visit St James' Park, as an away fan to understand that. We are there last game of the season in 2015. |

Kawe, For the first time in my life I've backed a Kickstarter – your 28mm Napoleonic Persian (against all that I said about Kickstarters in the past) because this is one of those that can't be missed or beaten. Thank you for reading the my (and others) pleas for 28mm Napoleonic Persians! :) |
wyeayeman | 17 Dec 2014 12:55 p.m. PST |
Kawe, I am just getting a buzzing in my head about Napoleonic 'persians'. How? Why? When? Just think it's stretching Napoleons influence a little. Good luck to you though, as with all of your models they will be awesome, It wasn't a dig or anything, but Persian????? |
Morning Scout | 17 Dec 2014 1:46 p.m. PST |
Not sure it is a stretch exactly, The Persians did have direct negotions with Napoleon, with envoys meeting with him in 1807 and there was certainly some sort of Franco Persian Alliance during the period.. The Persians certainly fought against the Russians of the period. |
huevans011 | 17 Dec 2014 2:46 p.m. PST |
Lost of major fighting between the Persians and Russians and all sorts of scope for skullduggery with French and British agents lurking around with rogue Sikhs and Mahrattas. Wondering if these are going to be compatible w the 28mm Perry Russians? |
KaweWeissiZadeh | 17 Dec 2014 2:52 p.m. PST |
The Persians of the period really are interesting with changing support from the French and the Brits with the latter providing several batteries of 6Pdrs. Lots of skirmishes were going on with Afghans, Asian Tribes and Russians. Even quite a few major battles. And yes they should fit well with the Perrys. That and the Camel cannon was quite a common asset on the eastern battlefields. Afghans, Persians, Indians and Turks were mounting small calibers on Camels and Dromedars. Small charge and some Wax in the ears helps a lot. That said has the KS being funded already.

And heroically supported now. Heading toward the "stretch goals". Next one is Ottomans for Egypt……….? |

Hmm, very tempting, what a great idea! |

An interesting kickstarter Kawe and I wish you well! I second johns thoughts on talking you into 18mm naps. I would love to see your Saxon artillery plus wagons as well as Prussian and possibly bavarian plus French equipment etc in 18mm. If you had a kick starter for some of the above I would happily sign up. Cheers Paul |

The Persian Army had French advisers at this time so not much of a stretch at all. |

What a lovely looking figure! Good luck Kawe! wyeayeman – I don't understand your issue – if the Perrys can make a whole range for an entirely fictitious North American campaign in 1861 these seem more than valid! (the Perry Intervention range makes me want to weep – for Waterloo they haven't even done British ADCs, a British metal firing line, any light infantry at all except a bizarre bare-headed "running at trail" set, no cavalry casualties etc etc, yet instead they spend their time and incredible talent making figures for a Vitorian war that never occured! I think I need some therapy) |

Yes Good luck . It was a pleasant surprise when I clicked on the link today to see its already funded. Camel speed be with you. |

Haha Thanks – or as they indeed say in Persia – Mersi! |

Lord Hill, "Historical Fantasy" perhaps? Everyone has a secret niche desire I suspect. |
deadhead | 18 Dec 2014 6:23 a.m. PST |
I do know what Lord Hill means. Now I have my Gendarmes I cannot gripe any more about Perrys…unless when I do of course. The Light Bobs are indeed sparsely represented and we have long bemoaned the lack of British ADCs on this forum. Metal Carabiniers would be so simple, working from the cuirassiers, with slightly modified Gendarmes helmets. Black and grey Musketeers of Louis XVIII I can only dream of. Perrys have reached a time of their lives when, I suspect, they can pick and choose and follow personal interests. The ACW intervention British probably could appear in many a colonial campaign and must make for a great counterfactual war. Anyone who did get through all the Harry Turtledove books on the alternate ACW right up to the 1940s will know what I mean. Perrys can now afford to pursue fringe subjects. The Retreat range cannot make a fortune, as even the keenest will only but one of each set, however truly brilliant they actually are. The bucks come from row upon row of French infantry in greatcoats……. |

I have just got a load of Westfalia figs and they are gorgeous – the British surgeon set is among my favourite ever by any manufacturer. I also got a wonderful landau coach – a naughty luxury but irresistable! And have you seen their set of dogs?! I read somewhere that the 95th had a dog which had accompanied them throughout the Peninsular and would charge alongside them, barking and thoroughly enjoying himself. That is until the poor mutt was taken and eaten by Brunswickers at Waterloo! Anyway, I now have an exellent little hound who will be lurking somewhere among my ranks of Rifles. |

My Landau now has the Tsar both painted up, but I am now working on the escort (Front Rank). Painting the Tsar is a doddle. There is just enough relief on the castings to mean the brush cannot slip, but not the ridiculous sash that is scale 3 ins thick. I could not find a single mould line to sand down……..the medals on his left chest……superb work. Hope to show it soon here. But I also have a publication (over 70 references so far) to work on in a med journal…and it is massive…and I am meant to be retired and working part time……..groan. I wonder how many of you will recognise this scenario……..retired, so loads of time to ………. |
