Just getting back into Naval gaming after many years, and I am drawn to two rule sets for the 1890-1914 period, GQ1&2 and perfidious Albion.

GQ1&2 I remember as a fast game – a bit beer and pretzels – but good fun and it produced reasonable results.

PA is a lot more detailed and is slanted towards the pre-dreadnought period.

In GQ I would expect to manage several large ships at a time, but PA has been a shelf sitter and I've only had 1 or 2 solo run throughs. What do you reckon is the maximum 1 player can command in PA ?

I played a battle of 3 vs 2 ships with a friend and it played well plus learning the rules in 1 hour and a half.

I believe we can easily play The Batle of the Yellow Sea in 3 hours.

So two-three squadrons of 2-4 ships each.
