Anyone out there know what alloy the old Asgard 15mm mini were cast from

Got some Asgard Sassanid minis from another TMPer a while back (at least some of the horse came in a bag with some Asgard labels and the figures match the photos on the Viking Forge site).

Some of the figures had some significant lead rot and I popped them into hydrochloric acid to remove it. Interestingly I am getting a black coating on the minis in the acid which turns gray as I put them in tap water to rinse them off.

Based on experience I was expecting a white lead chloride precipitate with some indistinguishable tin chlorides.

More a matter of curiosity than otherwise, but I am still getting a bit of gray discoloration on the minis after they dry. Not quite sure whether I should just go ahead and paint them or give them another bath.

I can't speak to Asgard specifically, but I get alot of older figs with grey discoloration. Usually this happens after stripping paint away, but it doesn't appear to be related to the color of the undercoat. If a wash in purple power doesn't get rid of it then I just paint over.

Lead rot starts from contact with acetic acid (found in wood, etc.) There was a topic in the Painting boards about it. I'd soak them in baking soda to try and neutralize any acids before priming and painting.

I've seen the gray discoloration after stripping old paint with Simple Green or PineSol. Does PineSol contain acetic acid?
