…Pakistan Border. "Taliban fighters killed at least five Afghan soldiers in a three-day offensive in a region near Pakistan, officials said on Tuesday, as fighting heats up on both sides of the border during the withdrawal of most foreign troops from Afghanistan. Fighters from both Pakistan and Afghanistan mounted the attack aimed at taking control of Kunar province's remote Dangam district, which is on the border, provincial governor Shuja-ul Mulk Jalala told Reuters. "The fighting is intense and we have asked for additional forces but they haven't arrived yet," the governor said, adding that five Afghan soldiers and 18 Taliban fighters had been killed so far. An army officer said 40 Taliban had been killed…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

They killed 1.5 soldiers per day in their "intense" "Major Offensive"? Either the journalists are really trumping up this story or somebody needs go back to Grass Week. |

Cyrus – I think the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban are two different organisations. The Pakistani military is, after all, supporting one and blowing the hell out of the other. |

No stu … a former US ambassador said they are basically the same only each is run by a different group of local leaders. And it is believed that the Pak AQ leader is hidding out in A'stan … That is the current intel I heard last night and this morning … After the Pak Tali attack yesterday on the school where where Pak soldiers' children attend. Killing over 100 between 12-26 years old and the Talis buring female teachers alive, some beheadings etc. … The terrrorists groups after seeing all the media ISIS is getting, are trying to out do each other in barbarism, etc., some intel sources comments. And that sounds like a valid conclusion. The Pak Army will probably have to go on the offensive again. And will probably ask for some US support. Such as intel and drones, as at least 2 Pak AQ leaders were Droned in the past few months … |

If I was the Pak Tali leader, I'd be hiding under a rock after what the idiots acting in my name just did… You want to convince the Pakistanis to utterly exterminate your tribe? Kill their kids. |

I'm wondering what the backlash will be for the Pakistani ISI. It's well documented that elements within the ISI were providing aid and support to the Afghan Talis during the NATO mission there; if that aid bled over to the Pakistani Talis, ISI suddenly has a lot of explaining to do to the Pakistani populace. |

It says a lot about how screwed up Pakistani society is that after a few more weeks of outrage and anguish in the media, the ISI and large factions of the Pakistani military will be right back to their old game of secretly supporting the usual wide variety of terrorist groups, thinking that they can use them as tools of Pakistani foreign policy. That dynamic has long since been reversed; the terorrists use ISI for their purposes, not the other way around. |

The ISI should undergo a thorough house cleaning. It's clear who's playin' who! |

It will be interesting to see how the Paks will handle this entire issue. And hopefully it may mean with a lot of luck that the Pak Taliban will be significantly attrited or damage. It's seems to be a predilection of "forces/factions" in the region that changing alliances and support is frequent. And I believe that is one of the problems at the heart if the instability throughout the area … But we will have to wait and see … |
