This is a request for a poll to vote on the following: Cross-link the "Galleys" discussion board so it appears in all of these period-based Zones of Interest: ANCIENTS BOARDS MEDIEVAL BOARDS RENAISSANCE BOARDS
There are already postings to the Galleys board about all of these time periods (esp. Ancients and Renaissance), but at the moment the Galleys board only appears in ANCIENTS BOARDS. I'm suggesting we extend its appearance to the other time periods we already post about in there. I'm requesting this because I don't think there is enough posting traffic about Renaissance or Medieval naval warfare to warrant separate boards under those Zones of Interest. It makes more sense to just have the same Galleys board show up under all three. - Ix |

Yeah, the whole "galleys" idea is stupid. This is not rocket science. The "land" boards are broken down in such a way, so why not naval? Poll time! |

That's a great suggestion. Thank you, Admiral! Ron |

"Lumping" is such a crass term. I prefer "cross linking". In this case I think it makes perfect sense. There isn't enough posting traffic about Renaissance or Medieval galley wargaming to justify separate boards under those Zones of Interest, which would just become underutilized clutter gathering dust & tumbleweeds. But we should have someplace to post about galley games in those eras, and we already use this board. I'm suggesting we just carry on this wya and make it official – and while we're at it, make it more obvious where to post about those topics. Right now it's a mystery. - Ix |

Ancient galleys are different from renaissnce are different from 18th cen and napoleonic. What relevance is discussing the mounting of cannon to ancient galleys ? In each age there are galleys and sailing ships withtheir own characteristics. Each period should have its own naval board and no need to cross post. Why not cross-link all boards with cavalry ? |

I have no personal objection to a separate naval board under each Zone of Interest, but I doubt that would be approved. Not enough traffic. - Ix |
